Brake pad replacment
on a 08 tl type-s brakes can u just use a clamp to put the brake fluid back in or do we have a computer ABS that will brake if we push the fluid back thru the hose with out bleeding them

I see. I didn't realize I was putting some bad info up there. I can't even remember where I learned that, but I've found that most of what I knew has turned out to be wrong since joining AZ. :-P
Why don't you want to open the bleeders? I've always bled my brakes whether it was a pad slap or rotor replacement, so I'm good. But there just seems to be something nasty to me in forcing fluid back up to the reservoir.

I disagree. Even on non-abs systems, pushing dirty fluid back can cause problems. One ruined combination valve convinced me. Your way may be quicker and more convenient, but it's not as safe. Check the technician forums or trade publications.

If I were you, I would push out old fluid via bleeder AND bleed brakes after changing both pads. You're probably due anyway for new brake fluid and what a convenient time when you have the wheels off and the car on jacks. Just jack up the back before you start the pad change project and you're good.
