Well, OEM Brembo pads will cost you about $150 on ebay, so they're basically charging you $75 for labor and to turn the rotors. (This does include inspecting and turning the rotors, doesn't it?) I'd say that's an excellent price if they are installing OEM Brembo pads and you don't want to do it yourself.

he quoted me for some ceramics... but since you mention it, is there a particular brand of ceramic pads i should look for? i'll have to ask what kind of pads he was talking about.

thanks for the responses.

here's some good info I've found since I'll be needing to replace my Brembo's soon:

hawk - HPS squeaky/noisy

Rotex Gold Kevlars to reduce the dusting.. which they did to the tune of 80-90% less. (www.brakewarehouse.com)

synthetic car wax to help prevent dusting

stoptech Axxis Deluxe Plus

removal...

Seems too cheap to me. I'm sure that does not include all the proper steps when servicing the brakes.

Sounds like they want to remove the pads and just slap new one's on.

all relating parts need to be instpected
hub needs to be cleaned
rotors need to be looked at, and machined if ok/within spec
caliper contact points need to be cleaned and properly prepped
pads need to be prepped
all fluid needs to be flushed
bleed the entire system

bleeding needs to be done after the car is three years old ... so if u change the pads before the car is three years old, then no i dont think it has to be done ... some one correct me if im wrong im not completely sure of this, my car is about 2.5 years old, so i didn't bleed the brakes, but i will be doing it soon

You do not flush the system for a simple brake job. If you have been paying for a system flush at every brake job I would love to be your next mechanic! I was a brake and alignment guy for years b4 I joined the Air Force and have never seen that practice. Not trying to be an ass but we need to provide good info.

The way I look at it, yes. You already have all the stuff out to bleed, why not do 2 more.

Depends on the car and owner I quess.

I will on my '05 3G. I'm doing the first set of pads and replacing rotors very soon.

I BLEED my brakes everytime i change my pads. To make sure theres no air in the lines.

I FLUSH the system when the fluid is dark or as recomended.

OMG I'm sorry I offended anyone.

I use to work at a high end shop, and that was pretty much our standard procedure. Sure if you don't care, or if it's POS car, ot if it's not needed, then simply don't do it. This is just my opinion, I'm not telling anyone what to do. If your taking time to bleed, why not flush, and replace the OEM fluid? That's a rhetorical question by the way. You already have to add more fresh fluid when bleeding too, it's not a time killer, or a costly thing to do.

Its not that serious man. I was just adding . Take a deep breath, its only a forum, nothing life threatening.

Well I was just quoted 850.00 by my local acura dealer for new pads and rotors.

So i ordered Rotora pads and rotors, and will be attemping my first brake job sunday...

I was just thinking about what you guys are talking about weather or not to bleed and flush the brakes and what not.

Dont we have some Acura Techs on the forums that could chime in as to what the dealers actually do ?

That's too much for non-OEM pads + labor.

I had ceramic + labor for 160... including resurface my rotors.
