Bought a 6-speed 2005

Hello everyone.
Just wanted to say hi. I'm new to this forum. I used to drive a 2001 525i BMW and now I upgraded to a 2005 TL.
Car was an end of year model, they took $3000 off MSRP and threw in a decklid spoiler along with optional gunmetal rims (the ones that were used on a FP Accord).
Color is asphalt grey. Will pick my car up on Saturday. I'm really exchited. Especially because it's a 6-speed. I used to own a 2003 Accord 6-speed but that one turned out to be a lemon. Hope everything will be fine with this one.
First mods:
- tint
- rear taillight tint (ebay)
- AEM intake
- ion yellow foglights

Asphalt Grey? Is that a color, or does he mean Anthracite Metallic?

Congrats on the car.

Is it realistic to get a $3,000 discount AND a spoiler AND the 18" rims?

Where do I sign for that deal?

Thanks
Yeah, you're right. The color is called Anthracite Metallic. Interior is grey.
No, I didn't get the 18" A-Spec rims. The rims I got are optional 17" five spoke gunmetal color. And they'll be fitted on crappy factory tires. They were offered on a Honda Accord 6-speed "Factory Performance" package.
I guess they needed to get rid of the car so badly. They have 3 more 6-speed models and all the models they're getting now are already 2006.

End of year model already? And congrats btw. I got the same set up except my interior is black. Also, did you get the navi or non-navi? Mine is a non-navi and I'll be picking mine up this Saturday as well.

Congrats on your purchases and welcome to the forum. Lotsa good info here, especially in the 3G TL Garage which is a must read. Covers a lot of subject matter and will answer the most common questions about the TL. BTW, the interior color is Ebony (black) and Quartz (gray). Again, welcome and enjoy your car.

In Russia, this color is traditionally called "Wet Asphalt"

My model is non-nav.
I didn't really have much to choose. They had a few 6-speeds end of year and none were with nav. I live in Riverdale, NY. I guess 2006 are already coming. Makes sense because my dad bought a TL-S in June of 2001 and it was a 2002 model alrteady
Gt1, you're right, how did you know it was called wet asphalt?

Hey, congratulations on your new car...great color btw!! The first thing I'd recommend you do is dump the crappy tires. My 6mt came with the HPT option, but I hit something and ruined one tire. That was the best thing that could have happened. I thought the HPT tires were OK until I got PS-2's. They made the car unbelievable. I didn't think the TL could ride and handle this well. All I can say is you won't realize how good your car can ride until you put some good tires on. Good luck with your new car, and welcome to the forum.

Are you sure the 2006 models are coming out soon? The 05's just came out in Sept 04?

Because I used to live in Kiev
I doubt that 2006 cars will show up any time soon, according to a dealer, my 2005 may come from factory as late as August.

Bad news, those wheels couldn't git my car because of the caliper size. They gave me a bodykit instead, almost same price ($1400 for rims, $1500 for kit)
I just picked the car up. I LOVE IT. The shifts are much shorter than in my BMW and even shorter than in Accord 6-speed (which is basically same thing as TL, just a bit less power).
Overall I'm very happy with the car. Only put 20 miles on it but so far I'm happy
Gt1, you're from Kiev? Nice. One of my best friends is from Kharkov

PS-2s,, could you elaborate?? The only thing I know named PS-2 is my son's game system.

I was planning to switch from the HPTs,, which I thought were pretty good, to the Pirelli Pzero Neros,, which are an all season tire that is suppose to handle as good as the Stock HPTs but be much quieter.

I was seriously considering a set of these until I read the reviews referencing less than 8000-10000 miles of useful life.....

i dunno why so many people like the ps2's... there are better tires out there for the same price, or even cheaper. but imo, the TL needs dedicated summer & winter shoes.
after riding in my brother's car before & after toyo t1s, i absolutely despise my el42's... i'm doing my best to wear them out asap. haha.

btw, sorry to hear that the rims couldn't clear the brembos... the silverstars would've looked awesome.

I know, they would look great especially taking into account they were gunmetal color.
But hey...an underbody kit isn't that bad either
Today I'm going to tint the car and the taillights (I got that ebay vinyl that you put over the tails)
