boot scuff marks in door way
05'TL Anthrecite - Black Interior_ I have the car for 3 weeks and when i get in, and out, of my TL, my shoes have scuffed up the plastic in the doorway, same thing happened on the passenger side door way and rear doorways. I tried to clean them off, but they don't go away. Anyone has experienced this? What can I do to fix it?
"Mr. Clean Magic Ereaser" I Checked it out and found out from others on this forum that a Magic Ereaser will take care of it! I will try it tonight and post the results tomorrow. Others say it worked well.
I have parchment as well. My cousin does body work and detailing, and he suggested I use some warm water and baking soda on a wash cloth or sponge to remove it, then rinse it well with water to get the baking soda off. Then use megs, or armor all as usual to protect.
P.S. - I'm warning you ahead of time, don't rub hard with the baking soda, it will come off with little pressure. If you rub too hard it will remove the color of the interior.

I use the Mr. Clean original...and it seems to work fine for removing scuff marks that aren't dug into the plastic. Another thing that works is Aerospace 303....it not only removes the marks but seems to put a protective film on the plastic making future cleaning easier.

It is a common problem on ALL cars.
I own a business specializing in sales/installation of clear 3M automotive bras. I oftentimes put the same material on door sills to protect them from being scuffed by shoes, high hills, etc. It works great. You may want to try it.
I was told that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser would take care of the scuff marks in the doorway so I tried it! It does not work as I thought, it makes the surface pale and leaves a mark, so then I used a regular tire wet spray on a cloth and rubbed it in to make it look normal again, that helped but the scuff marks are still there. If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know_ I'm eager to get rid of those scuff marks.
Thanks, sarge. I was getting ready to use my Mr. Clean magic eraser, but now I think I will just use my dobie sponge and some soapy water and see how well that works, or maybe test my Mr. Clean in a hidden area.
CAREFUL WITH THE MAGIC ERASER !
I am a real estate agent in AZ. I carry one around in my car, but I only use it on cheaper Linoleum-style floors. Works like magic on scuffs etc.
However, if you are over-zealous with your rubbing, you can dull the finish.
I would use Windex on the boot scuff marks, leave for 10 seconds and wipe with a soft rag.
Just my .02
