Boat Anchor Found Attached To Bumper

Could someone tell me why my '06 TL Auto has this thing ?

It is fairly easy to quess that it is a vibration dampner. It is (was !!!) found bolted to the bumper behind the facial and in front of the radiator. It was located directly below the hood latch mechanism.

This thing WEIGHTS 7 LBS !!! It is SOLID iron. The mount brackets on each have solid rubber to isolate the iron bar.

Anyway, it is currently being used as a paperweight on my desk !!!

Its there to add some rigidity to the front bumper during an accident. Almost all the Honda's have them. I took the one off my Prelude when I installed the body kit on it. Its does weigh a lot for such a small piece.

No, that is the blinker fluid case. They have to keep the blinker fluid packed in there because of its corrosive makeup. Jeez, you guys don't know much.

Somewhat difficult to determine. I had my Mid Muffler removed at the same time. Plus, I did some "cleaning up" of removing un-necessary plastic trim at the same time too. This is how I found the brick. I was inspecting what "crap" the manf bolted on my car, and what I would deem as "not needed, and just dead weight".

However, after driving the car to work today (50 mile round trip), I did NOT feel any vibration that I felt was caused by the brick removal. The Mid Muffler removal may had introduced a slight amount of DESIRABLE vibration, and is a great mod !!!!

In all, I probably removed 25 lbs of "dead weight" from the car. I DO NOTICE the lightness in steering response and overall lightness over bumps.

When I was a teenager, me and some friends use to walk about 1 1/2 miles to shoot hoop. As we would walk we would always mess the drivers on the road. Mainly at stop lights and especially if they were pretty woman.

We told the one woman who had flipped us off once that her blinker fluid was leaking. She got out of her car and was walking around it screaming at us demanding to know which blinker was leaking. Everybody was honking and screaming back at her to get her ass moving, the light had turned green. She must have held up traffic 10 minutes.

UPDATE - As I sit in rush hour traffic heading home from work today, I am bored enough to notice a PLEASANT vibration. I do feel that this vibration is from the brick removal. Could be from the mid-muffler removal, but I doubt it. I only feel the vibration when the car is not moving (in "Drive" with brakes applied). As the AC compressor kicks-in, the vibration increases slightly as the engine is loaded down slightly. The vibration quickly dissipates the moment the car starts rolling.

The vibration is felt thru the whole car - seats, seat of the pants, steering wheel, even thru the door as I rest my elbow against the window edge. The vibration is similar to a vibrator that one uses to give muscle messages. If you have any passengers in the car, they might develop a smile on their face and not be following your conversation too well -- if you catch my drift.

But, I LIKE IT (no, not for that reason). Because a muscle car should have power throbbing thru the chassis (aka vibration). It is very minor level of vibration. I only noticed today because I was so bored sitting in traffic with nothing to do.

I think this vibration gives the car more of a masculine persona instead of being a docile pansy ride.

Muscle car?

LOL, the TL, a MUSCLE CAR? I don't know what your smoking but I think we ALL want some of it!. We all feel a slight vibration from the oscillating of the A/C. If yours is more extreme, then is probably IS related to the removal of the mid catalytic converter. I guess you probably already also realize that with the mid-muffler missing, your going to get engine light errors eventually. Oh well, Muscle car! Good one, almost had me going there for a minute.

There is always "one of you" in the crowd.

By the muscle car comment, I meant to imply "sporty" as in "sports sedan.

Hey, I like the pansy ride of my TL.
If I wanted a car with a masculine persona and vibration, I would have gotten that Mustang GT and saved a bunch of $$ initially.
Or maybe even that hot Mini Cooper S with the cute little wheels...

Whoops, I forgot that the moderator moved my thread from the "Performance Parts & Modifications" forum. My comments might not be "rated" for the general TL forum.
