Oh, and if you're wondering about how I can pull an E60 535i: traction and knowing your car's limits can do does wonders, .

The starting MSRP for the 2008 Lexus is 33825 whereas the 2008 Acura TL is 33725. So you can say, Acura and Lexus prices are very similar to each other.
Thanks for the info. I agree with you, the TL is quite a good car.

Claiming that a 3G TL (any TL for that matter) will outhandle an M5 is like re-writing the laws of physhics. While I aknowledge Acura TL being a good car for the money you have to realize that a TL, even modified, will not hold the candle to an M5, 545i, 535i in terms of handling. These cars are designed to meet one of he most stringent requirements when it comes to performance and luxury hence the upper price tag. TL on the other hand is designed to have a little bit of everything. 3G TL targets the 3 series as a main competitor not 5 series. 5 series is a very well furnished luxury sedan that belongs to a different class.
I truly enjoy seeing how content most of TL drivers are and also overconfident with respect to their cars performance. However if you'd push even a 528 to the limit you'd understand that performance doesn't mean how fast is a car in straight line. Performance entails speed , handling, braking and so on.
Didn't mean to offend you guys but it's nice to keep it real.

^ lol, I think may be you should read the posts again as most people agree the 5 series has better handling. There are only a few who claim the TL having better handling than the M5. So don't worry, most of us know bimmers are bimmers, they handle well and they are indeed the ultimate driving machines

I think I can sum up everyone's feelings with this concept:

If you need to get the base model of ANY car to make it fit in your budget, shop elsewhere. That car's not right for you, yet.

I live by that and it's working out fine. Too many people have complaints like, "Oh shit, if this was an EX (or whatever designates the top), I would have OO already setup so I can easily put OO in without the wiring headache!" Unless you're intentionally shopping for the base model because of weight considerations or planned (major) mods, save yourself the headache down the road.

Whoever thinks their TL can outhandle an M5 is joking themselves. Even a 545....

However, i've driven a 530i and wasn't impressed with any aspect of that car. Crappy interior, uncomfortable seats, slow accell., handling wasn't as amazing as most make it out to be, and the brakes felt even worse than my TL.

The TL's BMW competition for the 3G TL was the E39 5 series BMW. This was stated in Acura's 2004 press release for the TL.

Perhaps to keep it real you can visit this forum twice a decade

I feel the same way, when I drove the 230HP E60 it was slow and the handling was about the same on a closed loop course compared to a 3G TL. On the other hand the 550i was really impressive, however but both have very substandard interiors for a car in that price range. The E90 330i was amazing in handling (superior to 3G TL), surprising since it's weight is only ~100 lb less than the 5 series for the same motor.
