Blind Spot Eliminator

I find the '04 TL to have some large blind spots. Someone posted this link to an article that is quite helpful in eliminating the blind spots by postioning the rear view and side mirrors: http://www.cartalk.cars.com/Columns/mirrors.html

I had this product in my last car. It is curved and you have a panoramic view of everything behind you. It fits above the rearview mirror and actually works.

There does seem to be a LOT of blockage.... for a car that has so many sarfety features, you think you would be able to see more...

Because of the curtain airbags, the frame is bigger around the windows and the headsrests in the back are annoying blocking the rear window.

You really have to be careful for idiots that drive in your blind spot.

I HATE people that drive in your blind spot for a long period of time. They are just idiots.

I still love the car though... just one quirk I have noticed.

Here is the link on adjusting mirrors that gregory28 was trying to post. (His link isn't working as I write this.)

I find that with the mirrors well adjusted rearward visibility is acceptable in the TL.

If that little trick will work in a 300ZX they have really got something. That monkey is one big blind spot with a windshield. Thanks for the tip. jim

Actually, I've beening doing something like this since I bought the TL, though not so extreme. My mirrors are set so that if I lean just a little either way, I catch the back corner of the car. You naturally lean a little when you turn your head anyway. I have found on the driver side, at least, that I can either see the back half of the car in the next lane or its front half out of one mirror or another or directly through the driver window as I glance at the side mirror. I have not tested the passanger side as much as yet, but am working on it. So while there may be a small blind spot at this point, nothing on the road fits entirely in it. I may try the suggestions in the column, though, and see how that works.

On cars the blind spot eliminator is your side mirrors. Align your side mirrors so that they are just past the point you see your car's rear end. If you cock your head slightly you should see your rear for parking situations. That is how to eliminate them completely in a car. On a longer vehicle, minivan up, (did it in my odyssey) the best solution is a small concave mirror attached to your side mirror.

I can't agree more. Many people don't realize that your sideview mirrors ARE NOT for watching the side of your own car which is what many people do. I can't tell you how many times my ex would get in a and curse me cause she couldn't see the side of the car while adjusting them.

Speaking of side mirrors, what is the general feeling about the blue tinting? I currently have a 2000 TL. It seems that the outside mirrors on my old TL are bigger and closer. I found in my recent test drive of the 2004 TL that I mostly noticed the blue tint as opposed to the actual objects in the mirror.

That is very funny. Is this an example of why she's your ex?
