Black Acua Logo Brake Calipers
I saw a TL the other day with what looked to be powder coated black brake calipers, with the Acura logo on them. Does anyone know where I can get a set of those ???
Additionally, THE TL ROCKS !!! :gheywave:

Wow, sucks to be Canadian, AY?
My dealer showed me the Black Calipers 5 months ago when I test drove the TL. Now whenever I pull up next to one, I look at the front brakes to see if its a 6MT or not. As far as I know, aside from looking at the shifter inside (which I'm too low to do in my Civic) the black brakes are the only way to tell the tranny difference.
But I'llask the next most obvious questions, because I dont know the answer.
Why are they only on the 6MT?
Would they fit on an Automatic?

The black caliper brembo's come on the 6MT model. They clamp down hard as hell. Also be prepared for some dirty rims as these calipers put off a lot of brake dust. I also here that the replacement pads for these brakes are like 160 bucks!!!

In an automatic, when you brake, the engine helps slow you down.
In a manual, unless you downshift, you have to rely soley on your brakes to slow you down, the TL is fast, it needs good stopping power, hence this is most likely the reason they put brembos on the 6MT.
The will not fit the automatic. You would have to wait for an aftermarket application to get bigger brakes.

ctlgo is correct, they do not fit the automatic. With A-Spec the AT does get upgraded brake pads though. I wish the 6MT had matching Brembos in the back (it would be a nominal difference in performance if any, but it would look more consistent).

Are the wheels or Rotors so different on the AT and the MT? I still dont understand why the brakes from the MT wouldnt fit the AT. I would have thought everything down there would be the same between the models.
Side note:
How long does brake dust take to really get wedged in there?
If you sprayed your Rims with compressed air every night would it remove most of that day's deposits? Or does the centrifugal force of the wheel really mash it in there good just by driving?

different calipers, different rotors, different knuckles which might translate to different axels, its more complicated than you think

One good tip I leanred with my STi is to keep a good coat of wax on the wheels to assist in easily removing the brake dust when cleaning is due. The TLs wheels design is easy to clean compared to the BBS wheels on the STi.
