The Big Wide Grin

The Big Wide Grin is defined as an uncontrollably wide and persistent smile on faces of Acura TL drivers. It is highly contagious and may persist for a long time. Still smiling, I am proud to announce that I have just joined the big wide grinners. I had to drive 150 miles to pick up the car and took the "longcuts" through New Paltz and Minnewaska State Park (NY) on the way back. Bought from Acura of Ramsey (NJ) for $33,300 + tax, 3.39% dealer loan, SSM/ebony/6sp/navi.

Oh my God, I love the car! I still have to see a car in any price category with a nicer interior than the TL's. And ... I HATE bugs. On the way home I drove through a few incredibly dense clouds of bug - it was like bugs densely raining on my windshield Now I have to debug my car before taking the pictures. Will post them soon!

Glad to hear that you are afflicted with the same grinning problem as the rest of us.

Congrats! By the way, the TL has a built-in anti-bug feature. On the front bumper there is a circle cut with some plastic in it. If you swivel the plastic it will open a hole that, through the marvel of Japanese engineering, creates a vacuum that sucks bugs into the hole, under the car, and onto the windshield of the vehicle behind you.

Enjoy!

OK Boltjames, once again, your manual is different than mine...

My dealer informed me the hole was caused by a new car prep mechanic. He supposedly mistook the TL for a TSX and tried to install lower fog lights - They did their best to plug the hole though...

CONGRATS Acugirl!!

Congrats, acugirl! But be careful where you flash that big, wide grin. What with all the PREVERTS we got ourselves around here, notably bolt, it won't be long before there are comments all over the forum about what you're willing to do with that big, wide grin of yours.

I tell ya - the language, immorality, and childishness on this board - it's just so fucking gay-ass disgusting!!!

As the unofficial Dr. on this board, I have prescribed Advil repeatedly for aching face muscles for new TL owners, due to the all-to-common phenomenon of smiling constantly!

Boltjames, seriously, what is that circular cutout for?? I have been scratching my head for a while and I can't figure it out.

OK, since most of you have never seen a TL before , here are the pictures:

2 things:

Pics - not appearing.
People are gonna pounce on your for something called RTFM. The plastic hole thing is a cover for a spot in the bumper where you can be towed from. Personally I think this is stupid to put right on the bumper like that - but hey..

Enjoy the car - it is great.

The circular cutout is a tow hook for when you slide your TL into a ditch.

And all I have for Christmas today is red x's.

Yep, Acura interiors are amazing. We were comparing to BMW 3series, even 5 series. And the TL won hands down for better interior. Plus fit and finish !
