Try wiggling the steering wheel around.

1. turn the ignition back on, shift to drive, back to park, then remove the key.

2. try a short shot of silicone in the lock, go to ignition on, off, on, off, remove the key.

keep us posted!

i tried the jiglle the wheel, cycle through gears (AT), no go, simply won't come all the way back.

the small issues with this car are now starting to annoy me.

1st issue was low-lip rear spoiler, the day i got it spoiler was not centered and was not stuck down properly.
2nd issue was the front body skirt, did not stick correctly.
3rd issue was small plastic pieces sticking out all over on the inside, some sort of shipping plastic that gets yanked out, but small pieces were all over.
4th issue was after they yanked all of the plastics pieces they put 2 small finger-nail like hole in the drivers rear door panel, the upper piece right where the window comes out.
5th issue is that the car pulls left slightly
6th issue is slightly rough isle after start-up.

now this. jeeze, what else, i only have 1200 miles on the car and we've been driving 50/50 between TL and 4runner !!!

don't know what to tell ya...i love my tl. the dealership called me in the afternoon to tell me they have to keep my car till tomorrow afternoon. i took it to get my sub rattle fixed, left headlight re-aligned, get brakes checked, and to check if my car was serviced for the recall...so obviously something is wrong if they have to keep it an extra day when they told me it was supposed to be done today at 5 PM. however, i'm still happy. believe it or not it's hard without my TL...knowing it's not in my garage. the TL is a great car and yeah with anything if you nitpick your bound to find faults.

i know you love your TL...don't deny it...don't...

I don't think that having a problem removing the key from the ignition, especially after his other troubles, is exactly nitpicking. I don't know about you, but I kinda like being able to take my keys out of the ignition when I park my car, but maybe that's just a nitpicky detail.

Sorry to hear about the troubles, cvajs. Other than jiggling a lot, I have no helpful suggestions to offer. Good luck!

Pushing?

Are you pushing the key IN before turning it all the way off?

cvajs,

Issues 1 2 3 & 4 you listed seem to be problems with dealer prep, not the car itself. 5 sounds like the car and 6 is normal; idle is rough for the first couple of minutes.

Good idea, but don't just wiggle it, give it a strong tug in both directions.

Almost every problem you list is with the dealer's PDI and/or service dept, not the car. Small plastic pieces - jeez, man, just get a small needle nose and pull 'em. That is what I did - the dealer's PDI guys should have, but why get agitated over such a trivial nuisance? Life is short, my friend.

i'm not agitated, yet. and yes, most items are issues with the dealer, however, just like when a cook messes up your food order the server looks bad. this time the dealer is messing up and making the car look bad...

go in your TL and look at the front center speaker grill, especially the corner closest to the steering wheel. now push down on that corner with your finger, what happens???

i may also have a issue with the drivers rear door exterior molding around the window. the loaner i have has molding that is on tight, my car has molding the moves when door is open and i push it (molding) with my finger. i'll have to check when i get the car back.
