A better car horn?

I'm not very fond of our horn, it sounds kinda weak imo. Has anybody upgraded the horn to something that commands a little more respect?

My horn is better than a lot of trucks i have been in. I don't find it weak at all. Maybe there are differences between the years.

Thanks to this thread I have spent the last 10 minutes on youtube listening to horns.

I might have found Boston's biggest idiots:

jesus, a thousand dollars for that horn?

If you are willing to pay a grand for someones attention, you might as well drive your car straight into em and physically tell them whatever you wanted to warn them about.

Repairs will be cheaper than the horn

It's so low brow and simplistic, but for some reason that was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long, long time. I am crying with laughter!

but back to leedoggs question...IMO the only way to have a "loud" horn...is air..I have experience with this horn too, cant beat it for the money...http://www.hornblasters.com/products...train-horn-kit

but then you have to factor in fittings, compressor, tank, relay, pressure switch.. etc. Itll end up costing around $500. Then where to mount them(everything...horns, tank, compressor) is a whole new obstacle. The hadley horns navarretg posted up are decent in real life too. We have them on some of my Fathers wreckers.

I have yet to see any real decent 12v horns...
maybe someone else has found a decent 12v horn??

i think i have seen a kit for less then that though, but yes it is going to cost a couple of hundred at least to get a air horn on the vehicle though
and yes the next concern is mounting the components on the car, which is alot less forgiving then the open reality space like a truck has

as far as a decent 12v horn, just look at the air horns that use a 12v compressor to recharge the system

I wouldn't mind adding a secondary "WOOP-WOOP" siren that sounds like this: http://www.mobiles24.com/downloads/s...en_-_woop_woop

get a hella horn and be done with it.
and like friesm said, it adds a bit of sexyness, if the horns are visible.

Dixie air horn from the General Lee, or you are weak.

Are you a cabbie? Who else uses their horn?

yea, but the other kits arent the same as this one..trust me ...this is about as close as you can get to a nathan, or a leslie, without actually having a nathan or leslie. Hell, even truckstops sell airhorns...usually cheepos though.

All airhorns use a 12v compressor....IIRC autozone has a setup that doesnt even require a tank, pressure switch, etc...But that stuff is necessary once you get to the bigger setups.

[quote=justnspace;12885983]for all the people suggesting train horns....REALLY?

quote]

if you want something loud, that "commands a little more respect"....yes, really.

And yea, 1k is pretty steep, but u can find them used on ebay and shit.... and c'mon guys, we drop 4k on rims and tires, 1k(or more) on coilovers, catbacks, etc....would I put a nathan on my TL? but it all depends on what you want. and BTW, those videos dont do the trainhorns any justice..Once I heard them in person, I had to have it....

For comparison, listen to a freight train next time, those are the same exact horns, only difference is they are running about 90psi, and with an on board air system, you'd be running anywhere from 150-200psi
