A better car horn?
I'm not very fond of our horn, it sounds kinda weak imo. :annoyed: Has anybody upgraded the horn to something that commands a little more respect?

My horn is better than a lot of trucks i have been in. I don't find it weak at all. Maybe there are differences between the years.

Thanks to this thread I have spent the last 10 minutes on youtube listening to horns.
I might have found Boston's biggest idiots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz09G...eature=related |
jesus, a thousand dollars for that horn?
If you are willing to pay a grand for someones attention, you might as well drive your car straight into em and physically tell them whatever you wanted to warn them about. Repairs will be cheaper than the horn |
Go honk a horn in a G35. I fart louder than that thing.
|
people still use horns?

a pic i found real fast for you, and being very visible in the upper grill (btw it's an 08-09 WRX in the pic, with the grill being the factory "sport" grill) http://i53.tinypic.com/wsn5uq.jpg |
but back to leedoggs question...IMO the only way to have a "loud" horn...is air..I have experience with this horn too, cant beat it for the money...http://www.hornblasters.com/products...train-horn-kit
but then you have to factor in fittings, compressor, tank, relay, pressure switch.. etc. Itll end up costing around $500. Then where to mount them(everything...horns, tank, compressor) is a whole new obstacle. The hadley horns navarretg posted up are decent in real life too. We have them on some of my Fathers wreckers. I have yet to see any real decent 12v horns...:annoyed: maybe someone else has found a decent 12v horn?? |

I wouldn't mind adding a secondary "WOOP-WOOP" siren that sounds like this: http://www.mobiles24.com/downloads/s...en_-_woop_woop
|
I use a wolo bad boy (link) horn on my bike, for the money you cant go wrong.

for all the people suggesting train horns....REALLY?
get a hella horn and be done with it. and like friesm said, it adds a bit of sexyness, if the horns are visible. |
u should hear the horn on my corolla...
|
Dixie air horn from the General Lee, or you are weak.
Are you a cabbie? Who else uses their horn? |

i think i have seen a kit for less then that though, but yes it is going to cost a couple of hundred at least to get a air horn on the vehicle though

quote] if you want something loud, that "commands a little more respect"....yes, really.:toocool:  And yea, 1k is pretty steep, but u can find them used on ebay and shit.... and c'mon guys, we drop 4k on rims and tires, 1k(or more) on coilovers, catbacks, etc....would I put a nathan on my TL? but it all depends on what you want. and BTW, those videos dont do the trainhorns any justice..Once I heard them in person, I had to have it.... For comparison, listen to a freight train next time, those are the same exact horns, only difference is they are running about 90psi, and with an on board air system, you'd be running anywhere from 150-200psi:tongue: |
train horn ftw
|
Why buying an expensive horn. Instead, get this bumper sticker:
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm28/jab_au/horn.jpg  |
the factory horn and alarm system on my '98 CL is amazing....wish acura continued using that...very loud...
