Best LED's on the Market! Who Needs HID's?!
#121
Thanks for the quick reply. I got it in nice and tight now. I just grab the heat sink and twist it as hard as I can. I was afraid it'll break but it didn't
Anyways I have it where the light is horizontal, I backed up about 5 feet and light is scattered everywhere. Worst than my hids. Do I still have it on incorrectly? Are the LEDs suppose be on top of each other? Which I how I have mine right now. Or are they left and right of each other?

I found some time to install mine and I took some comparison pics vs. the Nokya Artic White bulbs that I had in the fogs. Overall, I'm VERY happy with these new LED fogs and I can't wait til it gets dark out later to see how these things perform.
On to the pics.
Nokya Artic White Fogs on (yes they're on )
Nokya Artic White vs GT Lighting LED Fogs. No comparison
Bulb comparison
GT Lighting LED Fogs (matching my OEM HIDs and V3 Triton switchbacks pretty well)
To whoever was considering Nokyas earlier in the thread, don't even bother

The lights themselves would be plug-n-play, but you MAY need a harness to prevent any error codes. Hopefully someone who ordered them for their '07-'08 DRLs will be able to comment on that soon. I will say that there were no error codes thrown after the SRX fog install.

If I had something like that I would detail & wash my car a lot more often.
Unfortunately for me I have no garage and next to my driveway is a tree that loves to shit tree sap all over my car every night. Washing it is pointless and detailing it is out of the question. I have to wait for a certain time of year to be able to do that.
I know I'm going way off topic but man when I own a home one day in the future I would love to have something as nice as what you have there. Heated and AC'd would be a big bonus. I would just put a bed on the top floor and live in there lol

First off reps to Frosty for finding these LEDs, ordered a pair the middle of last week, they arrived and I installed today.
When you install the bulb into the socket, when you twist it does it really click in 100%? While the passenger side seemed a bit more snug, I'm not happy with how unsecured the new LEDs felt to me. I also tried switching back and forth between the old fog bulbs and new LEDs to compare how far to turn, ensure the smaller of the 3 plastic tabs was lining up properly, etc. Each time the old bulb found it's way to the right place, and even though I did the same action with the new LEDs it's just not the same... I think I may have seen one of the lights flicker when I went around a turn/hit a bump so something just doesn't seem right.
Curious if there's anyone in Northern NJ or NYC area who's gotten these or swapped out their fogs in the past. Would really like a second opinion.
Oh and whoever said they can switch out this driver side bulb without removing the battery has gumby arms.

I just received mines today! Cant wait to install them tomorrow, ill also determine whether a error code harness will be needed for the 07-08.

How do you like them otherwise?
Please let us know what you find out! There were no error codes from the SRX that I installed these on today, so I'm hoping the '07-'08 TL's will be the same

I'm going to assume you are referring to the 9006 bulb for the '04-'06 upper fog housings. I will agree, they could be more snug, but I believe the design of the fog housing itself is to blame for this (not that that solves the issue). I've personally seen these LEDs installed to 4 different light housings (among 3 different vehicles), and the ONLY ones that are not perfectly snug are the upper fogs on my car. I, too, tried test-fitting my old Nokya Yellow halogens to make sure I was putting the LEDs in the right way, and I found that they were not perfectly snug either. I think it is just more noticeable with these LEDs because of the added weight of the heatsink. All in all, I don't think you have to worry about them falling out, or anything crazy like that. I would make sure that the 3 screws at the opening of the housing are tightened down all the way. This will give you the tightest fit.
How do you like them otherwise?

I think I saw a fog flicker a couple times last night, but want me or someone outside of the car to verify 100%.
I'm not sure exactly the 3 screws you're referring to, but can try sneaking my phone in the tight spot to take a look. In my case there is a huge difference in the tightness between standard 9006 and the LEDs, and that's even with me holding the heat sync up - I can practically pull the bulb out without unthreading!
Hoping it has something to do with the 3 screws..
PS - Nice garage!

So very tempted to pick up a set.
And another question, kinda off topic, but for those with switchback LED bulbs, did you have to use load resistors?

ATTENTION!!!!!!!!
I just installed my DRL leds that I ordered, And they are not plug and play. Once I swapped them over and powered my ignition switch on. I automatically got a drl code on my dash. Besides that my leds didnt power on..:/

I find it odd that your LEDs didn't power on at all. This leads me to believe that something is not hooked up right. I remember when I installed these on the SRX, they did not power on the first time. I had to reverse the plug on the harness that bridges the OEM bulb connector to the new LED connector. Try reversing yours, and see if the lights come on. This may eliminate the error code as well.

The factory DRLs only receive 6v per DRL bulb.
I even mentioned this earlier but completely forgot lol.
I have LEDs in my DRLS and I'm using a relay harness so they get a full 12v & I'm using a resistor to prevent the DRL error light.

I just remembered that these LEDs require a 12v to fully light up.

I originally had a IJDMTOY relay harness that came with 2 resistors to use.
After a month the IJDMTOY relay harness went to shit so I ordered another one from VLEDs.
Now I'm using the VLEDs relay harness and the resistors from the old IJDMTOY harness.
The VLEDs relay harness provides +12v to both bulbs and the resistors from the old IJDMTOY harness prevents the orange DRL light from coming on.
Check this out, It's pretty similar to what I'm using.

Vehicle driver side plug is only used as a trigger wire for relay harness. Inline resistor is installed on passenger side plug. Harness has two output plugs for connection to LEDs on each side

I had LED towers in my 9006 fogs back in 2006. Was more like mood lighting, hardly any output at all. Used them as DRLs. Switched everything over to HIDs so I can get usable light out of them.
Great to see how tech has finally progressed. This bulb is a great find, what we have all been waiting for and starting to reach HID output. Looks like on my next installs everything is going back to LED. Thanks for the thread.

Am I the only one concerned about the ridiculously bad cutoff of the 9006 foglamps? Honestly, I'm not surprised with the amount of people who put rebased bulbs in reflector housings. Of course you're gonna get hot spots and blind oncoming traffic, but hey they look cool and function about as well as sealed beam headlamps. Of course looks are all that matter.
Me personally I'd rather have something that actually works in inclement weather, but I've always been function over form.
That pic of just the 9006 foglamps against the garage is actually aimed higher than my high beams. You must be getting high beamed all the time.

In response to your last statement, no, I have not been high-beamed even once. These do not glare in the same way that an HID in a non-projector housing would. Please see the illustration I posted on page one regarding this.
