"Beep" By Pressing Lock On Fob Once Only?
Right now, if I press the lock button on the keyfob twice I get the confirmation "beep" from the car that all doors are locked etc. Is there a way to change it so I get this confirmation "beep" the first time I press lock? I checked the manual and I can't find anything there. Don't know if I missed it, you can't do it, or if there is a trick to it and I haven't found it by searching the forums. TIA .

Boardman, I don't think you can do what you want. For confirmation, I just listen for the locking mechanism to respond to the first press of the remote button. If you are anywhere near the car you can hear the simultaneous "clunks" of the locks.

Thanks guys - I searched pretty well and couldn't find a way to make it happen so I thought I'd post up about it as a last chance to see if any of the fine people here figured it out and I just couldn't find it!

I wish there was a way to do this as well. I think toyotas beep the first time. I try to avoid locking it twice on my 03 accord because it honks at you and is very loud and annoying. The TL has a nice quiet sound to it.

You are better off doing it two times and waiting for the beep. Unless I am mistaken, if you hit it one time and one door is still opened it will lock the other three doors and you will hear the sound. If you hear the beep it means that all the doors and the trunk are closed. It lets you know that all doors are closed and locked and the truck is closed as well.

I do press it twice for exactly that reason. Only reason I ask is that my last few GM cars had the option to chirp on the first press - it was user selectable. Ah well, looks like my thumb will be gettin' a little bit more of workout nowdays .

You could find the wire that is sending 12 volts to the door locks and tap off of it to another speaker of some sort, that would "chirp" when the doors are locked, or possibly just run the wire to the speaker that is making the chirp and then it would chirp evertime the doors are locked. Only problem would be that the speaker would chirp everytime you lock the doors from inside, etc.
