Bbye 04, welcome 05

Hello Everyone,

So after all the problems I had with my 04, I traded it in and finally got my 05. It was built on 10/04 (0033xx) and it took about 10 days to arrive in Ft. Lauderdale. Since I traded the 04 with only 1400 miles, I decided to get exactly the same combo, SSM/AT/NAVI/EN.
I am very glad to say that no tire vibrations (Michelins), rattles, or anything "common" to the 04 were found so far (keeping my fingers crossed).

I ordered the 05 A-Spec rims (silver) and should receive them by the end of next week. I guess the silver 18' will look nice on the SSM.

I also will replace the OEM springs with H&R at the time to pick up the new rims. Will post pics if you guys want to take a look.

Do you mind telling us what you got for the 04 in trade, and what you paid for the 05? I am always trying to keep informed on what my 04 is worth.

And what do you mean by EN?

braht,

I got into a very good deal since I had some much problems with my 04. Dealer paid $30k on the trade in, and gave me the 05 for $32k.

EN is the ebony interior.

Great, thanks. Not a bad deal, IMHO. I was quoted $28k for a straight sale to the dealer for my 20k mile (then 17k) 6MT/Navi.

I figured EN might by the interior, but hadn't seen it abbreviated that way.

It is the factory color code. The full listing is in this thread, with other useful information.

Satin Silver looks mint w/ the A-specs, you will not be disappointed. Now, I think the '05 A-spec rims are more black chrome, so I think it would look even better. Congrats on a great color combo.

Peter,

I believe the 05 A-Spec rims are offered in chrome and silver, just like the stock rims. Dealer had the chrome ones in stock, so I could not actually see the silvers. But I am sure they are nice.
Are your rims the 04 gunmetal? The A-Spec is a bad a#@!

Did you have an early or late build '04? Just curious, since we have a late build 04 and still have some problems with vibrations and rattles (Vin 69xxx)

I don't think you can go by when it was built. I had the first 04 at my dealer last October and I haven't had one probelm (ex trans fix).

Then that is not too sick a deal at all. Of course, you lost the title tax as well. My Mom once figured out that with all the cars I have bought, the Commonwealth should name an interstate after me!

I hope your new car treats you much better than your 2004 - my luck has been very good with all my TL's, so I have never lost confidence in the marque.

I've also had good luck with all of my Acura's, starting with a '93 Legend, going thru 3 TL's including my current '04 TL. Every single car I've owned has been nearly perfect with the exception of a few paint issues on the '02 TLS. Is this just plain luck on my part, because 4 out of 4 good cars is pretty hard to explain. I think Acura builds a damm good car compared to other's I've owned. I'm fussy about cars, and rattles, squeaks, falling headliners would have me screaming bloody murder to my dealer, but something strange is going on here.....I've had 4 good cars from Acura, and other people seem to always get a lemon. Strange indeed!!! BTW.....I've never won anything from the lottery, so my luck doesn't apply to anything but cars I've owned.

PS: just noticed that this is my 777'th post, mabe that says something!!!

The car is pretty damn good. I had some issues like the vibration and a loose screw on top of the heater (had to take the whole dash apart), but they were not enough to get me out of the car. However, my car was hit twice while with the dealer and I just didn't want it anymore. Now I am happy happy.
Will definitely post pics with the new rims and springs.

BTW, I was given $32k just because of the mentioned problems. Dealer was decent enough to take some of the hit and kind of split with me my losses.

strategy question

I have also had a ton of problems with my 04 TL, and Tuesday will mark my 8th time to take it back for rattles, vibration, replacement tires, etc.

Supposedly the " Acura regional rep" will be there to help evaluate my car's issues, but at this point with my car having been taken apart a number of times I don't want to keep it.

Anyone have thoughts on how to approach getting out of this? I'm pretty soured on Acura, as this is my first, but I may be willing to try an '05.

PM PeterUbers. He was in a similar situation to you with his 2G TL, and had a favorable response from HOA. He's given advice and support to other members in your situation. It sounds like it's time to lemon your car.

If this is something you are interested in, make sure you consult a local attorney familiar with your state's lemon law provisions. There are requirements for the presentation of the claim to the manufacturer, time limits and other potential traps that can void an otherwise legitimate claim on what many would consider a technicality.

(Not legal advice, no atty-client relationship express or implied, YMMV).

Have done so - thanks for the heads-up.
