Bay Area (South Bay) Prices for 5AT w/ Navi
I'm about to pull the trigger on basically the largest purchase of my life so far, so obviously I want to get this right.. I've read hundreds of posts from all over the forum, including the 3G garage, but I still have a few questions:
Note that I'm looking to get a 5AT w/ Navi..
1. For those in the Bay Area (South Bay, including San Jose, Santa Clara, Los Gatos area), what was your OTD price, NOT including any extended warranties? I live in San Jose and I'm getting offers of about $36,275. I think this is good, but I should be able to do better.. Is there a figure that I can offer, and get them to throw in all-season floor mats and trunk tray (and possibly splash guards)? I was thinking offering $35,750 OTD, including all-season floor mats and trunk tray.. Is that reasonable, or should I try lower?
2. This topic has been brought many times before, but if I can't get them to concede to a lower price, I think I should make it up by getting them to throw in lots of extras, like free oil changes, free service for X-number of times (occasions), etc. I would like to think that $36,000 is about my "break-even comfort price" but that price will have to include some of the interior accessories and some other goodies, like free carwashes (yeah I know I should be washing myself, so no lectures on this one, please.. :P), oil changes (ditto on this one.. hehe), etc. My question is, really, what is the best way to bring up these requests?
3. At this current time (near the end of the 1st quarter of 2005), I think dealers will want to hit their marks, which means they are a tiny bit more desperate to get the sales. I know I should use this to my advantage. Any tips on this one?
4. I can purchase an extended warranty directly from another dealer at a later time, yes? If so, is there a "maximum" time I can wait before they will want to inspect the car before selling me the extended warranty? What is a "reasonably low" price that I should try to aim for? I was thinking $800-900, if possible for a extended 7yr.

Don't have answers to your questions, but for what it's worth, my father-in-law's friend got a 5AT/Navi last week at Los Gatos Acura for $2K under MSRP (including destination charge, no accessories) but not including TTL - don't know if this helps you any since you wanted OTD. FYI - it was a factory order car and he's waiting for it - it will be a SSM/Blk - they didn't have that combo on the lot at the time. Hope this helps you out a bit.

This info definitely helps me out... I'm looking at $32,978 which includes destination, but not TTL or accessories (except wheel lock).
With that said, I just got a call from one of the dealerships I'm working with and they really want my business, so lets see what they can offer.. I told them I want $36,000 out the door, WITH the accessories.
Currently the best offer I have is $36,487 out-the-door.. So let's see if he can make it happen..

Good luck with the purchase.
I'm looking myself as my Acura 97 3.0 CL has over 140K and is starting to shows signs of age. If the new Lexus IS350 isn't too crazily priced when announced at the NY Auto Show on Wednesday, I'll be picking one up of those in October 2005 when first released. Speculation has the engine making over 300hp (315 to 325), 0-60 mid 5s, 1/4 mile around 14 flat - basically 330i territory. But we'll see what happens when the real details are revealed...if I can get one for about 35K, I'm all over it, if not, I'll probably be picking up TL in San Jose myself in the next few weeks...good luck again.

Markdesign,
You should be able to get this price at Los Gatos (that's where I'm getting mine).
Sunnyvale will match very close to that (should be spot on) and Stevens Creek offered $36,515, whis is only a $28 difference...
I decided to go with Los Gatos because they were more courteous and professional with me. Also, I got a lower price on accessories with them.
I didn't haggle much at all.. I was offered around $36,300 (give or take less than $100) without the accessories at the first shot, but then I asked them for a new OTD price including accessories..
Good luck!

Addendum:
I did all the negotiations via phone so far. I have not visited the dealerships yet, so I think I'm doing pretty good so far..

Jill Pryor (she's the Fleet Mgr) at Los Gatos gave it to me for $36,487 OTD, which includes all-season floor mats, trunk tray, and wheel locks. Only $60 lower than you, so I think we're both pretty close to as low as it gets around the area..

Bay Area TL Purchase
I am scheduleld to pick up my TL tomorrow from Sunnyvale Acura. I have been waiting for 3 months. What are all the extras you are adding to your car? The price seems high. Sunnyvale does strike me as slightly unprofessional but better than Mike Harvey in Burlingame. When I went to Stevens Creek, nobody would even talk to me. I'm hoping to have some leverage as it is the end of Q1 and the 2006 models will be out soon. Aren't the oil changes included? Thanks for your post!

$36,487 OTD isn't high at all, especially since this includes all-season floor mats, trunk tray, and wheel locks. Tax + TTL is around 10%, so take $36,487/1.1 = $33,170, including accessories, but without tax or TTL. This means that if you subtract off the cost of the accessories, which I was quoted for $192 (retail = $280), that means the car itself cost me $32,978. This is more than $2000 off of MSRP...
