Battery replacement?
so i just recently got a service done and while doing the service they checked my battery and based on the picture/graph they showed, my battery, i guess, is almost dead? they told me that if my car doesn't start the next morning it was because the battery is close to being gone.
my question. I heard factory batteries are actually crap, but i'm not sure. just wondering whether i should buy a factory battery replacement or should i opt for something else? and if something else, what brands/model #'s are good for our cars? thanks.
btw: my car is an 07 with 32.5 k miles on it. is that normal for the battery to be drained in 3 years?

yeah it had a bit of juice in it... so they recommended that i buy a new one... but if i buy a new one, i'd rather get something of quality.... i was also at a honda dealership that is not my normal dealership if that explains anything.
but i was looking into optimas as well. not too sure on whats good or not... anything special about optima? light weight? longer lasting?

honda cant do your warranty on battery - should go to acura if the batt is still 100% covered- not prorated value towards new one
If thats the case- walmart or zone or oreilly/kragens are all fine
3-4 years is normal now- hotter engine area temps and more electronics loading wears battery out!

Optima changed their battery warranty as of 02-01-2009
I was looking into Optima myself, but then I learned that they changed their warranty on the batteries.
http://www.optimabatteries.com/optim...anty/index.php
Any red top battery purchased on or after 02-01-2009 has only a straight 36-month full replacement warranty, with nothing beyond that. They eliminated the pro-rating to give credit from months 36 to 72.
In the end, I bought the Johnson-Saft battery under the Kirkland Signature label from Costco. This is the same battery that is private-labeled as Duralast (Autozone) and Energizer (Sam's Club and Wal-Mart) though with different warranties.
The best part on the Kirkland battery was:
a. same 36-month full replacement warranty as the others
b. has prorated credit for months 37 to 100
c. cost only $59.99 plus tax and refundable $9 core exchange
Battery has 650 CCA and weighs slightly less than the OEM. Recommended.

My '04 with 105K still has the OEM battery. The stealership has been recommending replacement for 4 years. Every time I get that recommendation, I go to Auto Zone and have them test it for me (free). Every time, AZone has recommended against buying a new battery from them. I'm going to buy a new one today as my car turned 72 months this week. I am going to buy from Auto Zone as they have been so honest.

Not sure if you're familiar with cold cranking amps...but for $95 at pep boys they have a Bosch one with 1000 cranking amps and 850 32 deg weather cranking amps. That is a beast and a good price in my opinion. Even running a system, that has been more than enough.
same exact thing happen to me-the acura dealer told me they replaced the basttery under the warranty. They told me it tested low even tho I never had any problem with it. I guess I should not complain-my battey was just over 3 years old with 98,000+ miles on it.
