Battery died and stranded tonight
My battery died tonight. It's pouring and it sucks to be stranded.
My only question is what is policy on replacing battries? I heard I have to pay part of it after certain amount of time from purchase.
====Timeline====
This morning: car cranks slowly, I question my ears and ignored sympthoms.
7:45PM: I drove to bank and went to ATM
7:50PM: I got into the car, I turn on HID and only ONE of HID lights on. WTF, did bulb burn out already after one year?
7:51PM: I try to start the car, it cranks and dies
7:52PM: Great. my cell phone dies for low battery. Well, I have backup GSM phone in glove box. I transfer SIM card over and look for roadside assistance number.
7:53PM: Navigation is still working, so I click on acura roadside assistance and call the number.
7:54PM: Press 1 if my vehicle is disabled, I pressed 1
7:55PM: Someone answers phone and ask if I'm safe and not in danger. I replied yes. Then he asks for my last 6 digits of VIN. Then he asks how many mileage I have on the car. I replied about 29000kilometers. He asks me back, "did this vehicle purchased in Canada?" I say yes and he says I have to call different number. WTF I trusted navigation system.
7:56PM: Great. The backup phone's battery is low. I have car charger and I plug it in and turn the key to "ACC" position. I turn navigation screen off to save battery.
7:57PM: I call Acura Canada's roadside assistance for help. I Pressed 1 for English.
7:58PM: I got conntected to some lady who asked same questions as before
8:03PM: I did not leave my lights on overnight and I told her it cranked slowly this morning.
8:05PM: lady is on hold to arrange towing company for boost
8:10PM: after long wait, she says one company has two hour waiting so she arranged another one for half an hour ETA.
8:12PM: I'm stranded and waiting for towing truck. I have laptop with me so I'm typing this up. There is wi-fi spot around here. It's pouring outside.
8:33PM: Truck isn't here yet. It's raining and cold. I might miss the pub night at school. CRAP.
8:34PM some guy in minivan shoed \up with booste battey

I just replaced mine last week. It's covered prorated. So after a 2 yrs and 9 months I had to pay $115 for battery and labor. I think labor was $69 and I did not have time to tow to other store to get it replaced, so I changed at the dealer. Got the battery for $42.
I found 2 years free replacement in the manual. I live in downtown and make many less than two miles trip several times a day. Plus the weather here is near freezing today.
Now I'm drinking beer and trying to go to pub night. There are ton of cops near school because of Montreal shooting on Tuesday.

Looks like I be replacing my battery at 2yrs, just as a preventive measure.
As I keep reading about these batteries, it makes me think the only cars that I've had to replace batteries on have been Hondas. My 97 Civic and 99 CRV.

A lot of us with original 2004 and 2005s are posting lately with battery dead stories. I personally recommend just replacing the OEM battery at two years to save yourselves trouble, and not with another OEM battery.
My 05's battery was dying 2 days ago too! I didnt know we had a two yr warranty. Anyhow, instead of replacing it with an Acura battery and having this same issue again, I went to NTB to get a better one. Car starts up smooth now. Only thing that sucked is that I lost my NAV bootup screen, radio/NAV code's and so on. I found the codes, but now I need to figure out how to redo the NAV bootup hack.

1. Enter the Navi code using the touch screen. Follow the instructions on the screen... After you enter the Navi Codes the system takes about five minutes to calibrate...
2. Enter the Radio code using the preset buttons on the radio.
