bastards wont deal

bastards at my dealer wont budge from the price they gave me 5 months ago. 33,395 + Tax SSM/navi

They wont even throw the winter mats or a trunk tray or a spoiler. Any suggestions they said thats the best they can do take it or leave it. They pretty much said that They can sell it for that or more to someone else.

i feel like the first nana here not even a kiss or a little reach.

these are market value cars. it's harder now to negotiate for 04' models since the dealers know they can sell them. negotiate a 05' price.

ummmm 33,395 for a TL with navi is a good price. its not going to get alot cheaper than that. alot of people on this board have paid well over that price. not to mention the TL is selling hot cakes so if you don't take it someone else will take it.

As everyone else has said, that's actually a damn good price, especially considering they probably don't have much competition in Alabama.

If you're really serious about buying the car, you should go in there and tell them you'll buy on the spot for $32,900 or so. Taking an approach like that would likely save you at least a couple hundred dollars.

OUCH!!!

After finding out the '05 is totally unchanged from the '04 (even the BS tires are carried over) and will likely have a higher MSRP with less negotiating room, I flipped my deposit to an 04 5AT/NAVI that I'm picking up later this week after they add a remote starter.

I'll post the details after I physically have the car but I think I may have the best deal yet on a NAVI TL. (HINT: UNDER INVOICE!)

Rescueswimmer, it may be worth it for you to visit NYC if it will save you a grand...make a vacation out of it...you could shake Bush's hand while you're here (or spit on him depending on what your political views are)

Funny, I feel lucky I go tthe car I wanted off the lot - I feel I got I great trade-in, but, it was off the sticker price. Let's face it, if a car is hot (like the TL), the dealer doesn't HAVE TO NEGOTIATE! Remember when Chrysler dealers were actually marking up their new PT Cruisers? You'd have to wait almost a year to even get one. Supply and demand seems to be the price determiner when it comes to cars (or anything else).

I know what you guys are saying. Like you said the closest Acura dealer is 80 miles and 75 miles away. So there is not much compitition. The thing that pissed me off was I had all my figures and the guy straight up wants to lie to me. This is what I lowballed him with

I wanted the car for 32,5k 1000.00 for the extended warranty the wife wants that. and I wanted winter mats trunk tray and a spoiler. So I was out the door 33,5 plus TTL He was like Im loosing my ass cant do it

So I show him the numbers. 32,145 invoice, 1k for the warranty and 629.00 (retail) for the mats, trunk, lip spoiler $33744.00 minus dealer holdback 700.00 were at 33k. So they make about 300.00 on that deal. He tells me that there in the whole 1k with that deal.

I know thats wishfull thinking and waiting for a counter offer he says were not close its not worth dealing with you I'll sell it to someone else and make 3k compared to your 1. Oh man talk about fuming I wante to kick him in the The thing that sucks is that the other dealer doesnt have the car and the other dealer is 3 hours away and is going to call me in the morning.

What also sucks is that he said 33,3 and you buy the accesories. I said Ill buy the car you need to put mats and trunk tray in NOPE.......................

I thought that dealers in the rural areas would have better prices because there were fewer people in the boonies that would spend more $$ on cars. I guess I was wrong.

Look at it this way. If you were in business selling cars, would YOU sell it to you if you really could sell the same car for 3 times the profit to someone else? What's the advantage to them in doing that?

If the price of the car versus invoice, and the amount of dealer profit is that important to you, then you should be visiting sellers of American cars. Plenty of rebates, deals, discounts, etc. High prices for cars in high demand is just the way the system works. Resale value tends to give you back the extra you paid anyway. (People buy American cars with mega-rebates thinking they are getting a great deal, only to find out that resale value take into consideration what the new car cost, after rebates).

Hybrid, I agree with you 100% I wouldnt sell it to me if I was the dealer either. That was the hard part explaining that to the wife. It just makes you feel like your taking in the @ss when you know how much there making off you. I wouldnt buy an american car unless they were giving them away. Wait they are just say a thing today 04 trailblazer 6000 rebate. Im going to end up with a TL one way or another.

a classic example of an OEM who builds to damand and not one that works triple shifts with saturday and sunday shifts only to have 180 days of inventory sitting in some parking lot in timb-buck-too somewhere. THEN. . . to whine and complain that their not selling 18 fricken million units in an already saturated market and ohhh, forced to give rebates.

building on damand . . . what a concept :blaze:

That 33,395.00 included the destination charge? Your practically getting the navigation for free, a $2000 option.

STOP!! Spend some serious time on the Internet. Prices like your quoting can be beaten in many areas of the country.

Here in the Northwest, I found good inventory and prices in the small/medium sized towns. I was able to buy a 04/AT/NAV with, both mat sets, guards, trunk tray, gold package for $31,850.

Remember it’s YOUR money, get the best deal out there…………..THEN ENJOY !!!!!!!!!

I'm calling BS on this price (but would love to be proven wrong). $31,080 is the dealer cost with no addons (floor mats, trunk tray, gold package), etc. To get this car at 31,800 the dealer would have to be selling at cost. I've never heard of anyone getting this price.

If that price quote of 33,300 includes the extended warranty, then jump at it.

$31,8 w/ NAV? Invoice w/ destination is $32,715. No way you can get this car for $1K UNDER INVOICE including accessories unless you sleep with Acura's President or maybe if the car was a demo.

My guess is aerodrums had a trade, right? Probably got a less-than-fair deal on that. I paid 32.8 for a 5AT Navi +trunk tray/mud guards/wheel locks, no trade. And I felt like that was just a little north of a "great" deal.

yeah the dealer can make you think you got well below invoice when in fact he raped you on the trade. if your trade in car was worth say 6K and he game you 4K for it then he has a 2K cushion to play with in the sticker price. the dealer always makes out on the deal no matter how good a deal you think you got. he would not sell the car if he wasn't making any money on it, especially a hot selling car like the TL.

I befriended the sales person at my dealership (after the deal closed). She told me that each dealerships cost is different, depending upon the volume they do. I have always thought that the published "invoice" is not the dealership's true cost, but what they want you to believe is the cost. My assertions do not reflect the holdback, so lets exclude the holdback if any one wants to comment - to avoid muddying the waters.

Opinions on this?

Rescueswimmer - What is the sales tax in Alabama? Sounds pretty low. We get hit with 7% here in Fulton County, GA.

News to me

I think the published invoice will be the true cost for that dealer for that particular car. The profit that dealers make on each sale will be different depending upon their overheads. Thats my understanding.

Captain - Where did you buy your TL? The only dealer I've dealt with thus far is Ed Voyles, and their initial discount wasn't too bad ($1,500 off MSRP), but I'd be getting hit hard for TTL (nearly $3,000). Of course, I haven't started negotiating yet.

HI ALL.

Let me answer a few questions. (1) Dealer is Kendell Acura in Eugene OR. (2) Salesmen is Chuck Spresser, Internet Man. (3) Yes, I did a trade in, (2001 300M with the Performance Pac, just over 16500 miles) (4) The TL had 8 miles on it.

I’ve been in the Auto business on and off over the years…...I've been on both sides of the counter!! The dealer does NOT want to have last years inventory on the floor when the 05’s arrive.

DAVE.

In the past we've had problems getting what we want from dealers in Vegas (most of whom are really bad!). Either they couldn't get the vehicle for you to look at without you paying for them to work out some switcheroo (non-refundable if it wasn't the one you wanted) - thank you Vegas Dodge Dealer, or they couldn't work the financing the way we wanted, which was the case with the only Las Vegas Acura Dealer.

In both cases, we ended up buying over the internet from LA (dodge) and Phoenix (Acura), both over 300 miles away. Both dealers were very professional and worked out the financing deal over the internet before we agreed to buy. Yes, we had to pay to fly down and spent a day driving back, but we saved money on the deal and had a better buying experience.

Rescue Swimmer,

You're in Enterprise, I'm in Dothan. What dealer have you gone with? I've negotiated with Proctor in Tallahassee and they quoted a navi for 32,800. I didn't negotiate other accessories or entended warrantee, but thought that was a good price.

After the '05 info, I'm about to head to Fort Walton this weekend to look at one and negotiate and over to Tallahasee. Did you go to Atlanta? What price did Montgomery give you.

Three months ago Fort Walton and Montgomery weren't willing to deal. Now Fort Walton seems better.

sounds like you got a great deal!

I got it at Ed Voyles. I got about $1500 off as well... which was a good deal back in March. You can do better now if you are willing to go out of state. In fact it seems that some out of state dealers are willing to sell them at invoice, which means that you could almost get the car with Navi out of state for the same price in state with NO Navi ($1500 off of sticker). However, I just helped someone buy one last week, if you want a metro Atlanta dealer, the best found was $1500 off of sticker.

I was able to get $500 off of sticker on a SSM/AT/Nav TL off the lot. They were willing to go lower on a White/Camel model ($1k off sticker), but that was it. They were very firm on the price of the SSM model, I believe it is the top seller.

(This was back in April)

oguju. . .I'm in KC also working w/Jay Wolfe. I paid 32.8 for a SSM 5AT Navi with everything you mentioned except all-season mats. Just curious. . .Did you have a trade?

FWIW, I offered the same thing (32.8) to Superior a month ago and the asshole basically laughed in my face. You're a better negotiator than me!

No trade, all this was basically done over the internet. I think I could have even got him to go a little lower, but I am not too sure. I said 33,000 and he said Ok without any hesitation. Since I still have not signed any contract or anything, maybe I'll try to squeeze a spoiler out of him, but I doubt that will happen.

I actually had the opposite experience with Jay Wolfe, he just laughed in my face when I offered 33,300. Wierd... That 32.8 you paid is that including their 199 admin fees?

Yeah the 32.8 included the 199 fee. They kept trying to add it on separately, but I said look let's not play that game.

I guess it just depends on the sales person? Probably inventory too. . .I notice that Superior just got a big shipment of TLs in, whereas Jay Wolfe currently doesn't seem to have as many. When I was shopping, it was just the opposite. To make matters worse at Superior, they lowballed me by about $2K on my trade, which I ultimately ended up selling to Carmax. Go for the spoiler!

Johnso,
We got our car from McConnell in montgomery. I was searching all over the area for a SSM/quarts/auto/navi. I just couldnt find one. I offered 33,3 back in april and they said ok. I told them I still was going to shop around to find out who would give me the best deal. Tallahassee told me to fly a kite and so did fort walton. So soon as the 05 specs hit the floor I called around and nobody had the car but mconnell just got it in 2 days ago. So "read my first post before the . So the best I could do anywere was mcconell. The other dealers said theyd match it but didnt have the car. Even Mcconnell said they would not sell that car for 33,3 to anybody else cause they dont need to discount them. Good Luck
