Alright, so I have looked at quite a few threads, but I keep seeming to get mixed responses to weather the A-spec and Type S bumpers will fit on the base. So will it fit? I have a 2005 TL Base BTW

 

From what I read the Type S bumpers will fit (you will just need the accessories) to add the A spec lips will require trmming. I believe there is a link somewhere on the site for a DYI.

 

So I have to have the Type S bumper before I can put on the A-Spec kit?

 

No you do not need to have the Type S bumpers to put the A spec kit on. If you want to keep the Base bumpers and add the A spec kit here is the link.

Alright, cool. That would have made it much more expensive.

 

bumpers will fit. A spec is the add on lips, and there are versions for both type s, and for 04-06 and 07-08 base. you can install the type S a spec lips on base bumpers but you will have to cut up the rear bumper.

 

You can install any bumper from 04-08 base or type-s. The TL body did not change in size, so everything is interchangeable. If you do get a 07-08 type-s front bumper, you will need lower grills, fog lights, complete center grill and hood trim (type-s is chrome and your base isn't). It's best to install the A-spec kit that goes for each that year. A-spec kits are already painted from factory. The bumper covers are not painted from factory. Depending on your color, you may or may not find the A-spec kit. IF not, you buy a different color kit and have it repainted. The side A-spec pieces are the same for all 04-08 base and 07-08 type-s. The front and back pieces vary from 04-06 vs 07-08 base and 07-08 type-s
