Base '07 TL Brake Replacement

I have a base 07 TL, I've driven from coast to coast twice and its been driven daily everyday since I bought it (24k miles so far) and I figured it will probably need new brakes sooner or later. Any suggestions on replacements? Are the OEMs the best for this car? I don't care about dust but I don't want squeaking. Suggestions?

squeaking isn't a problem occur in OEM pads, if you don't care about dust then just get OEM other than that you can hawk or stop tech pad, EBC pads also available purchase. I recommend you go with after market pad because they tend not to fade after couple stop.

Your brakes are probably fine with 24k miles. I have 48K miles and have a city commute that is harder on brakes than highway miles.

If your needs are no squeak, OEM is not a bad choice. I'm surprised dust is not a concern though- that is what is making me install some Hawk Performance Ceramics when I'm do. I'm pretty impressed with the pad wear but will probably swap out the stock pads in 5k miles or so. I have some new StopTech rotors going on too when the time comes.

A lot of people also recommed Duralast Cmax Gold Pads. I'm waiting to have them installed on my car along with slotted rotors from brakeperformance.com. Both my pads and rotors come with a lifetime warranty, can't beat that. The OEM brakes are decent, but if you're going to replace them, I would go with some type of ceramic aftermarket pads to keep the brake dust down. I know its not a concern to you, but it at least keeps the rims cleaner for you between washing the car.

Well I put 24K Miles on it since I bought it. I bought it used with 26K miles on it and I am reaching 50K now. I have no idea when or if the previous owner changed the brakes so I'm deciding to change them now. I live in New York City so I understand your commutes. Dust doesn't really bother me cause I live in the city so after one car wash I need another one anyway.

Yep, a lot of people have been telling me to go for the CMax Gold Pads. Was also thinking about rotors too but I hate spending money on stuff that isn't necessary unless it is a noticeable difference. Do the rotors really make that big of a difference?

You might want to replace rotors if you have grooves or roughness in your stock rotors that would require refinishing the rotors. The stock motors are prone to warping after they have been turned, so it's often simpler to replace the rotors with the pads. That's what I'm going to do when I replace my pads since it's not much extra work per wheel at that point. I'll be doing the work myself.

Next time it might be better to write what the total miles are on the odometer for maintenance related questions. The assumption was that you had 24k miles on the odometer based on the original information which is quite different than actual.

Sorry for the the confusion, if you've noticed my join date, I am a noob. I am about at 50K. Just bought the CMaxes, now I am trying to figure out which rotors. Any suggestions? My rotors are grooved and rough so I guess I'm changing them too. The rear and front rotors are the same removal and install procedure right?

I got my rotors here http://brakeperformance.com/brake-ro...ake-Rotors.php
It's up to you if you want to run slotted rotors or standard rotors. Most will tell you to stay away from the drilled rotors because they are more prone to cracking in the long run. I ordered the slotted rotors with the black hubs. If you order them they will come all black, but it's just a zinc protective coating that's on the rotor and will come off once the brakes are applied a few times.

If you want something better than stock that will improve braking and be more durable you should consider our brake packages.

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-304785.aspx

The packages include Powerslot/STOPTECH performance rotors and STOPTECH Performance pads. All of the rotors have a black e-coating on the hubs and vanes and an advanced alloy composition. The Powerslot slotted rotors for the front of most Acuras also have a Power Alloy composition and a curved vane construction, which helps reduce heat in the brake system. The STOPTECH Performance pads are a para-aramid compound, which has great initial bite and long-term performance and lower dust and noise than most aftermarket brake pads.
