Just heard that in NY Ahfc has stopped the Balloon purchase program and has brought back leasing.

The new leasing program requires an up-front liability fee of approx $1k plus origination fee and first month payment.

 

It's back to standard leasing, Due at inception would be 1st month, Bank fee, Security, DMV/Plates and tax, although you can roll most of those in the payments. I don't know what you're talking about with an "up front liability fee" for $1,000, you probably have a dealer that's trying to screw you. The only fee related is the Bank fee, which is $595, along with the other usual fee's I mentioned before.

I am already in with the Balloon so this does pertain to any deal I have.

The liability insurance is required by NY state and is in there either as a line item or built into the monthly payments.

 

I still don't know what you're talking about...Again, they are probably adding it in as an extra, to make more $$. I sell/lease all kinds of cars, Acura/Honda Included. I just leased an Odyssey for a customer the other day, in NY, and there was no other fee's that you're talking about.
FYI, they are still doing balloons, but the rate jumped from 3.9% to 6.49%, which makes the lease a better way to go.

I am just relaying info that the dealer told. If you do this all a living then you have much more knowledge on this than I do. It may have been only for AHFC though

I posted it as a heads up for other members. Well at the very least now they know to be on the alert. I did not know about the rate bump to 6.49%, that is large.

I just got off the phone with my dealership, and they either claim that they no longer offer the Balloon. It may be up to the individual dealership as to what they offer.
