I just leave everything in auto and let it do it's thing.

went to the dealer last week for an alignment, and asked the guys about the sensor on the rearview (facing the windshild) and they said it is for the auto-dimming. So i turned the headlights to "auto" and covered the sensor with my hand... and the the rearview darkened. Apparently it does look for glare off the windshiled from headlights behind you, and adjusts the rearview tint.

 

what if you dont have Auto headlights? haha

Don't think so. my sensor faces the back window.. Like it Should! So I guess it doesn't suck to be me.

 

I've got 40% tint on the rear windows and i feel like the mirror doesn't change at all, day/night, auto/manual headlights. Anyone else?

 

ya thats pretty much my story too. but it does work.. its just not sensitive enough. such as, if you open the sunroof when its bright out, the rear window will look dark because of the light shining on the mirror from the sunroof. but its not dark enough when light blind you in the rear view mirror.. because someone didnt do their job at acura intelligence

 

I noticed this past week that when my A/C is on, and if I turn a corner so that the ball on the dash is now in sunlight, then I notice the fan speed kicks up a notch. So ya, somehow that sensor is rigged into the air conditioning system.

 

Chad, you should try reading the manual. Funny, becuase I knew what it was even before I bought the car.

I have read it. But dont remember seeing the ball thing. why else would I type the question? You should try surfing the internet the entire internet for everything, car related or not. The answer has already been written somewhere. so dont ever ask another question.
