Baffles in the right rear trunk?
Baffles in the right rear trunk?
I bought my 08 TLS used so I didn't have the NAV code for it. I took out the right rear panel in the trunk so I could get the serial off the NAV unit. While I was digging around in there I saw what looked like six small square black baffles of some sort just below the tail lights. It appears that this is just behind the bumper. Anyone know what these are for?
I didn't know the serial number was located on the nav unit in the trunk ha.
But what are these baffles that you speak of? I never really took apart the interior of my trunk to realize it. Any pictures?

Yeah, pull the panel off it and 4 screws to remove the unit. Serial number is on the underside. Enter that, your VIN and register email on my Acura website and you have the NAV code.
I might just have to yank that panel out to get some pictures of it. Curosity is killing me. It is in a white square enclosure the size of a pack of cards. It has 6 square black baffles that appear to me made out of thick filter paper. They hinge at the top and appear to allow air into the rear panel but restrict air from going into the bumper area. Cant figure out it's purpose. I see no mention in the tech manual for it

What it does is allow the car to maintain the same pressure inside as what it is outside during hot and cold days.

Here is a pic of said vents. My vote is that these vents, in addition to equalizing pressure as mentioned by Hondaforlife954, is to be an exit point for the Fresh Air Circulation of the HVAC to allow the air to flow thru the cabin properly. That is, you can't have fresh air to flow into the cabin if there is not exit for the stale air.
