Backup Sensors

I've never seen them in person. The dealer says they are body colored. But one person has pictures in the gallery that show the centers as black.

What is the deal here? If you have the sensors, especially on a white TL, what color are they?

Thanks,

David

they come in white with a black hole in the middle.
they are not like other brands, that paint the whole thing to match your car's color. I don't think it looks right.

Plus at $400 + it's too expensive, I will buy the "voice" type rear-warning version that cost 1/2 and looks better.

What is the 'voice type"?

White with a black hole won't do.

the Voice Distance Indicator (type) is a Car Reversing Aid sensor that instead of anoying beeps, uses a human voice to tell you how many feet/mts away you are from the objects...
(very easy to install)

http://www.poronusa.com/index1.htm

It's called the Micro 3 Series with VDI. by Poron company.

you can hear the sample voice at:
http://www.car-reversing-systems.co.uk/main.htm

(a little anoying voice, but it's on purpose, so you pay attention)

I'm thinking of getting this one, and changing the sensors for the ones that go flush with the bumpers and painted the same color, w/no holes...

Is the size of this car so overwhelming that you need sensors to tell where you are?? Its not exactly an 18 wheeler

Yes. We have sensors (front and rear) on our 5-series and they are very useful. There is no way to see where is. Most front bumpers of other cars and parking lot obstructions are below the sightline. Even the front is useful. You are able to move close in confidence you are not hitting anything.

In other markets sensors are much more common. But the US is becoming a third world country when it comes to technology. You can buy a much more advanced cell phone in Shanghai than in NY.

Have black dots 1/2 round in the center of the sensor is very tacky of 2004.

I thought that they were color keyed - that's why you have to order the parts by color - but I could certainly be wrong.

Oddly enough my decent vision and driving ability are sufficient for me, but maybe I'm just special.

Not flaming, just giving you a hard time. I know I am defiantely getting my mom's next car with those sensors as she is a creative parker and needs the extra set of eyes. Hope the bumper turns out how you want it.

They look like a row of wholes in your back bumper. Why Acura engineered it like that as opposed to others cars, I have no clue. Otherwise it would be a nice safety feature.
