You will need load resistors of course, but don't return them to V-LEDs. (Or you can keep them flashing fast, some people actually like it like that (Kennedy))

They are worth the effort and easy to install. Just search the threads on the topic, Kennedy and I have discussed this topic at length.
rockyfeller, by the number of my posts, I'm definitely new to LEDing. Load resistors did not come up on this back-up light mod thread so it just caught me by suprise. Thanks for your advice though on suggesting I not send back the LEDs to V-leds. I'll search the load resistor threads on this forum and see what I can learn.

On a side note, rockyfeller.. it was a bit too cold outside on sunday when I was taking out the snaps to the trunk liner (to install license plate LEDs and reverse LEDs) and in doing so I broke a few snaps. Can you suggest the best way I order replacement snaps for the top part of the trunk liner?

Hey, got my 18 led from v-led, now quick question, what exactly do I remove to get access to the bulbs? I just pull the plugs and the cover shall come off?

Thanks.

Open trunk... Remove gray trunk lining... PITA to get to bulbs.

Test them before you reasseble. They're polarity specific.

Yeah... There's like 20 of them, and you have to remove the rubber bumpstops.

All the little clips about 12 total (don't hold me to that number). Remove the gold screw inside the handle next to the release. The bottom two rubber ends on each end of the trunk lid. Make sure you pull the left side rubber to the right to release it. The right side rubber pull them to the left and pull them out. Make sure to look at the inside 3 tabs that are on the inside. One is hollow, the other two are solid. The liner will fall out at that time so be ready for it. Then you have access to the reverse lights and the license plate.

wait.....you need load resistors ONLY for your signal bulbs so you get a normal flasher rate. The TL dosen't have "bulb out" circuitry like say on a BMW. You don't need load resistors for your backup bulbs. Check your dealer to get replacement clips. Look out the list price on some of them are outrageous. I remember I broke a couple somewhere else on the car and the dealer wated $3 each!!! If they are really generic looking you can buy them at your local autostore too.

I don't mean to step on anyone....I just took some pics of the 18 led lights on the car that I installed this past weekend. The light is a clean look and is brighter than stock. It is not blinding but it does show a nice white light. Here are some pics of the lights when in the garage. I can take some night pics if you need them. Let me know.

mmade22..........can you take a pic or a short vid clip of the car in the dark and back up light on in your garage? This will show the luminosity of the light.

I did a comparison a year ago with 5 super flux led and the luminosity was a bit dim compare to the stock.

OK, I did a video off all the new led lights for the car. All are V-Leds..The reverse are 18 bulb led's as well as the front blinkers. The rear blinker are 27 led lights.

Sorry that I have a tendency to talk to much during the video so with that sad, here it is....I hope it helps anyone that is going to do this mod. Worth the money....I ordered but haven't gotten the resistors in yet so you will see just how fast the blinkers work without them. I like the normal way better.

Damn those are nice and bright. I'm definitely considering them now. And they're way cheaper then the PIAA . Those rear blinkers are pretty damn bright too.

What color did you use in the rear signals? I only found 24 white and amber on V-leds website for the 7440/7443 bulbs.

They offer the red led 26 light led for the rear only. Thats why they are so much brighter than the front ones. They have them in red only. Look again.

Thanks for the kind words on the garage. I bought the house mostly because of the layout of the garage. It was a nasty, dirty, oil infested floor and the walls were dark with a little light. It had so much potential so I turned it into my hangout/garage room. Who wouldn't want to hang out all the time with there Acura??????

Your house looks newly built, didn't look like you renovated it. Usually newer houses are going for the generous garage. Older houses up here in the northeast got tight garages that'll barely fit your car.

LOL! For real, you could have a few beers, turn up the music and literally have a party in there. All you need is a few chicks that are into cars. lol.

Now that is funny. Actually in NC it's the opposite. The new houses that are built here have small 2 car garages that you could barely get two cars in it. My house is 20 years old and back then in NC, they built the houses well and spared no expense on the house or the garage. The builder even put 4 inch crown molding all around. I neeeded to get a hot car to go along with the hot garage. I figured the TL was a great match!

Hey, I've installed the 18 v-leds, the output is whiter/bluer, not bad. My friend took my camera, so no pics

I was a bit puzzled when it came to exchanging the license plates bulbs, yes I guess I'm retarded, how da #$%$ do you take them out? I see on the outside plexi-glass an arrow of where to pull/push, but it wouldn't budge...can someone help me?

Thank you!

I spent like an hour trying to get them shits out. The way I did it was I pinched those tabs on the side and I pulled it down at an angle. In other words, I dont think they come straight out but rather one side at a time.

You can detach them from the inside of the trunk. There's a gray plastic where the wires come out of, that is attached to the clear plastic housing (which is attached to the outside of the trunk, where the light shines through). You just need to detach that part and replace the bulb and pop that piece back in. It's held together by two plastic clips on the side. Be careful not the break the clear plastic clips on the side that hold it in.

Hope I didn't confuse you even more...

^^^ Yes, I forgot to mention. I did it from the inside also. I didnt even bother trying to remove the clear plastic part from the outside. The manual also gives instructions on how to replace them but that shit just confused me further. Maybe it'll help you?

That's my whole thing, fear of breaking those things off.... Ok, you pulled the gray part complete out? or did you remove the clear glass, and changed the bulb in there, this is my main concern, what the hell am I pulling? lol

Thanks.

Yeah, you can remove the whole gray part from the clear piece completely. Take a look on the sides of the gray piece. You'll see it attached to the clear piece. Kinda like in a triangle shape. Once you see how its attached there, you'll know how to detach it.

First, the method for replacing reverse lights is explained pretty well in the manual. Just look up bulb replacement and it tells you how to access, pretty simple other than getting those tabs out. Don't forget what someone above said about polarity and checking that they work before sealing it back up. Good luck, if more questions keep coming up I will try to post pics.

Next, was looking for anyone that knows if there is another license plate case that would eliminate the rippled plastic that breaks up the reverse lights. I have the 18leds installed, nice looking from outside but tint still restricts view from inside. I think that if the plastic was solid that I would get a much clearer illumination.

27 LEDs from V-LED for Reverse

Has anyone tried this part from V-LED for reverse lights? 27 LED unit.

part #194_27_SMT_W 2 for $25. Will it fit?
