Back from the dead.

Ez crew, new member, reader for about a year. I found the forum when I bought my 2004 TL 6speed. I bought it from Copart, totaled and smoked in beyond help. What a ride, I thought reviving this car was gonna be soooo much fun! I’ve bought a couple parts cars and trips to salvage upull it yards. Car was originally non nav and I wanted nav so I turned to the forums. Some of the threads were well over 10 years old, so I just wanted to share my experiences and what worked for me and where I wanna go w this car. At the end of it I just took the dash, floor, roof harness from the same car w nav and simply swapped them. Yes I took out the dash as these are fucked recovered it w some vinyl. I gutted this car because most everything inside was disgusting! Oil leaks all over, motor mounts shot! This car was neglected w 200k! I’ll upload photos as this thread goes on. I cut off wrecked core support and welded on a salvage one. New windshield, airbags, headliner, mounts(from Honda Accord-they cross over!), new clutch, water pump, timing belt, tensioner, plugs, valve cover gaskets, stage 3 exhaust. I went thru hell on the legal side of it due to airbags. But honestly didn’t even think I’d win the auction to buy it. I use the car as pleasure for sure so I take my time. There’s a few things I keep hitting roadblocks w forums, YouTube etc.

1. rebuilding the ps rack. I can find new orings from Honda and thought I could rebuild it rather than buy some pos reman.

2. I’ve got the 07-08 dvd drive and screen/radio. I swapped out 07/08 trunk w cam. Just need some insight on diagrams for E connector on the nav unit. I’ve seen most all forums and they all seem to be missing that. I can depin radio, I have those schematics just need the nav plug(blue).

ive always had a project car and enjoy the hurdles rather than buying one complete. Not to mention white 6speed, this car seriously kicks ass.

I haven’t taken it out yet or got my hands on the orings, definitely will update. These racks are too expensive IF you can even find a decent one. I would love to spend 500$ for 1 year warranty or 150$ for lifetime? Doesn’t make sense. My friend at the Honda place says they repair wherever the leak is from. They don’t get new ones either and give customers same choices we have online. I thought about duralast since they were new.

I saw your post about recovering the dash on Craigslist.

I would be careful, as most likely the airbag will not go through that vinyl recovered dash. Looks good, but that would worry me.

Make custom insert like most Honda’s...

Yes that was my listing, with so many bad dashes I thought I’d put it out there. I guess people like the cracks. I’d hope the airbag would bust thru the vinyl as it does originally, it’s fairly thin material, foremost I hope not to have it deploy! Check out my other idea in pic.

i believe it’s the blue one. 2004-6 have 2 green 22 pin, 2007-8 have 1 green 1 blue 22 pin. I looked into many threads but they seem to leave out a plug. Unless you do away w it. There’s things I won’t use anyway. Temp, compass, nav traffic, xm... here’s a few pics

These adapters to plug in an '07/8 screen into an '04 are readily available from Martin in FL, his # 201-889-7012. Why knock yourself out?
