Back to a 3G...24K for a 2008 Type-S?
Back to a 3G...24K for a 2008 Type-S?
I know, I know, there have been a lot of threads lately on pricing of 3G TL's and I hate to start another one, but, here goes.
I used to have a 2008 Type-S that I loved, long story short a lady slid into it causing 20k in damage, the stupid insurance company wouldn't total it and I ended up with a car that was never the same. I traded it in for a 2010 TL SH-AWD, which I like, but don't love. I'm in a position to trade that car in and use some extra cash to pay off a 3G TL and not have a car payment. I've been looking for awhile now and can't find the right car. There is a clean 08 Type-S for 24K at a dealer near me, they aren't budging on price, does this price seem fair to those of you who have purchased a 3G recently?
Thanks!
Forgot to add, the mileage is only 19k!

5at or 6mt?
KBP is a beauty. 24k sounds good, so long as everything is in good shape and it has a clean record. thats crazy low mileage...like 5k a year.
i paid $24k for my 07 tl-s with 35k on 6/10. 100k warranty too.

Virtually the same for me too. I paid 23-24k for my '08 CBP 6MT TL-S with 42k on the clock. Sounds like a deal to me!
I think the dealers definition of clean and mine are different, they call it clean meaning it's in great shape body wise, I call it clean if it's not been in an accident, it appears that it has, I'll have to look more into this before I decide if I pull the trigger, also they are low-balling me on my trade, no surprise there!

I agree with the above.....not as much space either as the Type S in most of the cars you listed....I paid about 21k for my Type S and thats with warranty and it had 60k miles on it. I feel like it depends on where you live as well in terms of pricing, I also bought mine straight from an Acura Dealership. I just wish the backseats folded down Arghhhh (one thing I miss about my Accord)
i paid 28.5 for a 2008 TL-S 5AT with 12.3k miles on it. i think its a pretty decent deal! would it be certified from the dealership?
there's one in saratoga, ca for 28.9. Carbon bronze TL-S with 8k miles and a 6 MT. not sure if this link will work but --> http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/2893703271.html

I wanted to ask a question, and figured I'd just ask here rather than creating a whole topic for myself.
I found an automatic 07 Moroccan Red TL Type S with ebony/taupe interior with 27K miles. They are asking 21 flat, however they are insisting on not only $400 internet documentation (some kind of BS) fee, but a 900 dollar prep fee. With those fees in mind is this still a good deal?
I figure I can talk them into absorbing the 400 into the price, but I think the majority of the fee costs will have to remain. Red wasn't my first choice, however low mileage Type-S's seem scarce in my area, so I am leaning toward jumping on this deal. What do you guys think?

^^ I would trying to make them get rid $500 and that would be a good deal, BTW you must also remember sell tax and it varied depend on what state you living in. Taxes can cost your some where between $1200-$1700 on top of all the fee(s). I would check carfax make sure it is clean and prior to purchase, bring along with you a mechanic or ask the dealer if you can bring the car to a local Acura dealership and have them do multi-point inspection which cost around $105. BTW what state are you living in? and trust me you will love that MRP it is a rival (rare) compare to KBP color except for KBP is exclusive for Type S.
paid 20k for a 50k mile cbp tls 5sp last week. these cars are non existant in my area and I rarly see them for sale at all. While looking Ive seen a black tls 5sp on cl for 17,8xx, but its been on there for weeks I assume due to high miliage (80k), maybe even a dirty title. Who knows.
that sounds like a great deal depending on how severe the accident was. if it regesters on carfax, maybe you can aquire pix from whoever repaired it or whatever insurance company covered the damage??

You have to check carfax and see where or what body shop repair the damage. Then you have to call that shop up and use he vin # to ask them if they can email you the list of thing that got fix. If the dealer is big and generous enough to share the information with carfax then it ll save you couple phone calls.
I will miss the AWD, it's amazing, plain and simple, I won't miss the exterior styling and crappy gas mileage!
Not looking forward to getting back with the awesome torque steer! But the NAV, exterior styling, gas mileage, and tape player (kidding) are making me consider going back!
I will take a 3G over 4G all day everyday too
.
They have somewhat different design objectives. 3G has heritage from Acura Legend's ideal ("Precision Crafted Performance," Acura's slogan in the 80's) and combines performance driving dynamics and its prestige as a luxury sedan.
When Acura started working on 4G TL, their managers believed that automakers worldwide would soon be on the same level regarding performance and reliability. Therefore for them to retain volume sales, as the managers believed, they have to emphasize not on low maintenance cost or driving dynamics, but on advanced technology and innovative luxury features.
That's why 4G TL has such weird driving dynamics.
