automatic transmission

Hey everyone,

I'm looking at buying an 2006 TL and wondered when you guys with the automatic transmissions use your manual option.

I personally use it pretty much all the time when I am alone, it makes the driving a whole lot "funner". As well, I mostly use it on the freeway when I want to accelerate, having control over the transmission just gives me so much more confidence when I accelerate at highway speeds.

pretty much never use it. If i wanted a manual i would have bought a 6spd ( well i did, but my wife can't drive stick ). This go around i decided to get a car my wife could drive also. I've used it a handful of times just because i was bored.

I use it sometimes like if I want to keep my RPMs up to pass someone, or if I just feel like messing around. I would say I use the auto mode about 80% of the time and the manual about 20%.

Once a day. On the way home I descend a mile-long grade that seems to terrify about half the people who drive it--brake lights all the way down. It's fun to shift down to third and just motor down the hill--it drives the brakerider behind me crazy.

having owned a 6speed tl before i use it 90% of the time. I just hate the way our transmission shifts. the whole car feels slugish with no low end torque and on top of that it keeps it in the highest gear possible.

Use it every so often. Sometimes, I even let off the gas when I shift. Has made some people think my baby's a 6-speed. Paddles are fun for the turns as well.

Just save the paddle shifts for freeways. It gets really annoying some times since the first 4 gears are kind of low and auto shift itself. It did it to me once while I was trying to pick up speed on 4th. I was like ...fuck!

I use it sometimes...depends on snow ^^^. Also it's just fun for accelerating up to 60-70 to get on the highway. Engine braking is pretty cool too when you have to slow down quickly.
