Automatic Shifting

why does my TL shift so early into 4th gear... around 30-40 mph its always below 2000 rpms, and to excelerate from that point it seems like all the torque is gone, unless u mesh the pedal a little more. and also around 60mph same thing.... is it really due to lack of torque on this car or is it just my car doing it. I have an INtake and that might be the reason of slow response and low lowend-torque.

the intake reduces low end torque slightly, but the TL shifts to be under 2K to save gas and be efficient.

I do have the K&N CAI and as you probably know it can be converted to a SRI...i asume it would be better in response and torque down low...the only problem is heatsoak, i was thinking maybe i can run some flexible tube from the front grill to the intake, while being in SRI mode so that cooler air would hit the filter directly.

i guess my sound system isnt helping either. althoe i went with 2 pdx amps and one 12 boston g5 so it shouldnt be to bad.

i do have the pulley, p2r spacer and the coolant bypass.

pulley helped a lot in response and pickup

what else would u recommend for some more low end torque.

It's impossible for a CAI to decrease low end torque. Completely impossible. All it can do is increase high end power. The throttlebody still controls airflow below full throttle.

Short ram would give you less hp and torque than stock.

I completely agree. Aftermarket intakes sometimes cause issues with cars with MAF sensors due to nonlaminar flow across the sensor with aftermarket intakes - not sure if that is the case with the TL.
