Autocheck/Carfax Advice Please!
Is this car that I should avoid? I haven't gotten a pre-purchase inspection yet but the seller claims that it is flawless and the title is clear. It is a car that is available out of state so I can't inspect it myself, but I would definitely order a pre-purchase inspection by a reputable company.
But the problem is, when I run the Autocheck, it shows some problems. I did the ebay trick to get the free Autocheck, so the following listing is more or less fake:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...436#vi-content
I guess my question is, how bad are the problems reported on the Autocheck?

Looks like that vehicle was totaled and rebuilt.
I'd pass for sure.
And this is when (Odoemeter and Date):
Less than 100 miles in 8 months? That car was being rebuilt during those 8 months.
I'd pass for sure.

In my opinion, if the car checks out at a reputable shop that the repairs were done correctly, and you were to never sell the car, I say get it (lower price of course).
lots of reasons, for example, maybe a private property accident (not on a public road). bottom line, it's a buyer's market so don't be the sucker that buys this one!
Either way, I'd stay away from a salvage.
Guys, that is a fake listing I made myself, just to get the Autocheck for free.
It is a 07 TL-S auto with 40k miles on it for $16,500.
So you can't be certain, but most likely the car was in a pretty bad accident and had to be rebuilt. But the accident never got reported so you can't see it in the report. I do wanna walk away but the price is SO good!

The OP said he was doing the ebay trick so that listing is fake. I've never heard of it before, but I'm guessing that it includes [Step 1] posting the car yourself, [Step 2] , [Step 3] profit = get a free autocheck history. Correct?

price is good but so what? you're taking a big risk that a lot of problems may arise later. lemme put it this way, if you have to shop for salvaged/rebuilt cars just to afford the car you want, then its most likely the wrong car for you. lets say you do buy it, and then theres the higher cost of gas that the car takes that you might not be able to afford as time goes on. im not trying to sound mean, but im just putting the facts out there, if you arent willing to pay a bit more for a TL type s, then thats not a car you should be buying.
Avoid the car...end of story.
As for the eBay trick be careful it almost bit me in the ass when I was looking to buy. I did the same method and got carried away and didn't notice two of my listings had $50.00 insertion fees lol. I raked up a $100 eBay invoice in less than 5 minutes. It literally took me 2 weeks and 3 hours of call time with eBay to get myself out of it so I was very fortunate to get the $100 fee waived. In the end I probably deserved to pay that price though since I was the idiot using the service incorrectly. After all that I then found out the free version "eBay classifieds" offers the exact same autocheck report for free. I felt like an idiot finding that out. So for future referece if you want to get the autocheck list use ebay free classifieds it costs nothing and you get the same report.
