Hey...I just bought this carbon fiber hood from a guy from Perth Amboy New Jersey that says he sold his TL. Does anybody recognize this car from the NJ area and can vouch for it? Guys name is Jose....

Its a VIS carbon Fiber Hood....






Has anybody seen this car or hood? He says its flawless and he paid $700 for it...but you know how that goes...lol. Anyway...just wondering if anybody knows this guy or has seen this car out and about and can vouch for the hoods condition....

Just checking...its like 11.5 hours from here....would eat up an entire weekend! I already bought it on ebay...just weighing shipping options vs pickup. Will have to check with Joe Demaree...maybe he is going to NJ soon for a drag race or something....

Guy is trying to sell me some 20x8.5 BT Freestyle rims and tires for like $1400 too....not sure I want those though. He has five of em (including spare).

I may take you up on that....how far are you from that area? I really want this hood...but if its duped already....that would suck. Story is supposedly he only had it on there for two months and had to get rid of the car...so now it is just sitting in his garage. He says he paid $700 for it originally....but then tosses in the sold as is, well...here it is....this is the part that bothers me....

Not to mention...who in the world buys an expensive CF hood two months before you get rid of your car? Sounds like BS to me....but you never know....he could just be a doper? But that As-Is thing kind of bothers me...why say this unless there is a problem of some sort?

That's odd, I don't remember VIS making a hood for the TL. Heck, even their site doesn't have it listed. I would call VIS to confirm they do manufature said hood, number is 626-839-9833.

Well Amboy is kinda ghetto, so he may just be passing off a black hood for CF. Like BlkTL1, I offer to check it out for you, it's not too far from my house.

i'm not seeing a carbon fiber hood from VIS. I know VMS makes a double sided one, but from that pic, it does look like a regular black hood. make sure you keep your ebay receipts! haha

oh and hey MB, any updates on the CF Lip and decklid spoiler?

Never seen that car around (I'm usually hanging in Union/Newark on weekends) with alot of car guys. I'm also about 1/2 hour away from him, so if he wants, he can meet me at one of the local car meets in Union (10 mins. from him) and I'll scope out the hood and take some pics for you

i actually got quoted 750 from VIS about a month ago for a cf hood and so has one other of my friends. But i would take up BLKTL on that offer to check it out

Would it be WAY out of the way for you? I still have to get his address and such....but something tells me this would be a smart thing to do given all comments are about the same as my thoughts....plus I am rarely that lucky to get a good find like this! I hate to ask one of the other guys that is an hour away and such...two hours round trip is a LOT. Mikey

I tend to agree with most all the comments here...and why would you not show a close up when it is carbon fiber? And if it was a VIS hood...why in the world would you not mention it...unless you were on drugs and had no sense whatsoever?

BTW Mike have u called VIS and ask if they've ever made one.. cuz i've bugged them a few times to make one and each time they say NO. my guess is that if they had made one it wouldn't be hard to reproduce it if they already had the mold, i mean why not sell it themselves.

I have posed that very question to the seller....as I have spoken with VIS and they say that so far as the guy recalls on the phone...he cant remember them ever doing a CF hood for our application. This is one of the reasons I would like someone to go and get some "occular knowledge" on this bad boy and see if its real carbon fiber or not and if it looks like poop or not.

When you get it could you take some close up pictures of it? Especially like the underside, the parts where the hood shocks meet up, and also that front little black peice that's orginally silver on all the TL hoods?

Just got back from checking it out and having a couple of beers with him and the hood is immaculate not a scratch and super light, you can lift the hood with one arm.

Nope! Just very appreciative to Ray and the fact he helped me out on such short notice. Hope I can do the same for somebody some day!! No...but far from rich! Got the hood for $350 (double sided carbon fiber hood too) and got the wheels at a very competitive price too, five of em!




Should look good on my WDP TL with the black CF hood!!!! Cant wait!!!!
