aspec body kit loose?

I just noticed today that the side skirts of my kit seem awfully loose and at when you open the rear passenger door there is a gap between the skirt and the sill. is this normal or should I take it to the dealer?

Thanks

I have an appointment tomorrow morning to have them fix it. The service guy was really cool and said they will double up the tape to make sure there is a strong bond.

I normally double up on the tape because the amount that comes with it is just not enough. At the shop I have a big roll of 3M double side tape just in case. We have told our Acura Rep that the amount that comes on the kit is not nearly enough.

I don't have an a-spec yet..
By using double-sided tape it ensures that the under-body-spoiler stays bonded to the body of the vehicle thus eliminating any chances of gap.
Certain double sided tape are very strong, some are quite weak.
I suggest using this specific kind:

It says exterior mounting tape but you can use it for just about anything. The adhesive on this particular kind is very strong.

I have one package in my trunk... waiting for my Type-S Decklid spoiler to be painted so I can mount it [with the tape I just showed].

Personally, I'd pull it off and make sure all clips are in place where they're supposed to be ... maybe one got pulled out of it's cradle when you installed or one of the "little clips" is worn out ... just can't see it having a gap unless something is out of place. Suppose the side skirt could be warped though???

pulling it off is different from the stock skirt right, because theres no need to slide anymore it just pulls outwards correct? id have to undo the clip holding the front and rear also

I hope its not warped... it would take a lot of force to warp it right?

Wink I doubt they're warped ... more likely installed wrong.

Removal should be exactly the same as the stock skirts ... pop little clips outward, then slide skirt towards rear or front, dependant on which skirt you are removing (front towards front, rear towards rear). I'm guessing one or more of your big clips isn't seated properly in it's "cradle"(slot that back of clip sits in). Just a guess though.

And yea, it'd take a lot to warp the skirts and could be easily fixed by immersing the skirt in semi-hot water for a bit, then lay flat to cool. The urethane/ABS/w/e plastic used has memory

I had this same problem when I first picked up my car, one of the clips on the left side skirt was not clipped all the service technician dude was just push it in with a little force, and boom it went into place, no more gap.
