I purchased the reader but it seems it won't be able to detect knock retard for our cars. Very disheartining.

i like the program, just make sure you get a decent quality interface. The cheap ones like to freeze a lot.

I purchased this ELM 327 OBD2 bluetooth scanner last week and it came in today.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/190604285316...84.m1497.l2649

I also purchased Torque Pro app on my Samsung Galaxy S2 and am using this as my phone holder

http://www.ebay.com/itm/140719094999...ht_2731wt_1269

That phone holder is very nice because you can spin the phone in a complete circle so you can view the torque app in landscape mode or portrait mode. It can also open wider if you have a big phone. I have a 4.5 inch screen phone with a pretty big Trident Aegis hard case on it, and it still fits in the phone holder just fine without me having to remove my Trident Aegis hard case.

It doesn't detect exhaust gas temperatures, transmission oil tem, or engine oil temp.

I did 1 test run and it says my max HP at the wheels was about 200 @ 5000 rpm and max torque was 190-200-ish if I recall..

I'm 5AT base with rv6 v3 PCD + j-Pipe. IDK how accurate this app is but I was expecting 220-235HP to the wheels.

Also my 0-60 time was 7.3 seconds lol but I don't think I gave it enough throttle. I didn't want wheel spin so I eased the throttle. I was using sports shift mode the whole time.

Sorry for the year old bump;

I recently became aware of these and since its been a year or so since this was posted I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as far as a unit to buy that would work well with my iphone 5? I can't seem to find that Torque pro app in the appstore either.

Thanks!

Torque Pro is for Android devices only and this device won't work with Apple products.

I think there is only one solution for the iPhone and I believe it's VERY pricey.

It's probably a better solution to buy a cheap android tablet and and cheap OBDII bluetooth connector (like the ones linked in the OP).

I have a Nexus 7 with the Torque Pro & bluetooth OBDII scanner, but I only use it periodically.

Thumbs up

I posted a review and my ongoing experience with this precise OBDII adapter/Torque app combo at my thread here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/road-test-bluetooth-obd2-adapter-torque-pro-android-app-856699/

For more details as to why there is no iPhone equivalent, read post #4 in that same thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...79&postcount=4

Basically Apple's "locked garden" when it comes to hardware-app interfaces means Apple won't ever unlock the Bluetooth protocol to work with an unregistered piece of hardware, which Android has no issue with.

Your only option, as previously mentioned, was to spend a ton of money for the official, Apple-sanctioned solution, or just get something running Android like a cheap tablet and then going from there. You just have to decide if the convenience of having everything working through your phone or price for your setup is more important to you.

If price is more important: get a tablet, get the Torque app, buy the adapter.
If the "all-in-one" convenience is more important: go the official Apple route.

Well honestly I have an obd tool but I kinda wanted something on my phone. For 20$ to get the Bluetooth piece it would have been worth it just for the heck of it but any more than that and it kind of becomes pointless since my car is a simple DD and I don't have any super performance mods that I need to regularly monitor via obd.

Oh well. Thanks for the insight
