Question for the members

after looking on Google i'm starting to wonder if i got had by the dealer.

i want to know if my TL is indeed a real A-spec model. Now i know i have the correct wheel front/side and rear kit on. I also have the deck lid instead of the spoiler which i know was an option. here is my problem all the "real" A-spec i have seen come with the badge mine doesn't.

is there a sure way of knowing is my question?

apologizing now if this has been asked before

Post some pics of the car, also if it is true A-Spec, you should have the steering wheel with blue stitching.

Also did you buy the car new? If not maybe the PO just took the badge off and sold it.

and the suspension. if it was an AT model, there are ASPEC brake pads too.

it's just a badge, don't sweat it.

Yeah they do look like the base...

What about your steering wheel?

It's really hard to tell from a direct side shot but this shot...

you can clearly see the rear of the side skirt, it flares out and has a sort of crease when it starts to go up to the rear door.

Hard to explain but if yours do not look like that, it appears the side skirts are base and (to me) say the car had the A-Spec added to it.

Yeah doesnt seem like its a real factory aspec. Looks like a base with aspec parts. You need to post some more pictures i.e. close up of the side skirts, steering wheel, etc.

Like Undying Dreams has mentioned, post a picture if your steering wheel. It's more of less a dead giveaway if its an aspec TL or a base with the aspec kit slapped on. That being said, there are some members who have actually swapped their steering wheel for the Aspec one but it's not done very often due to its rarity.

No, the 04-06 were identical. 07-08 have a different front lip, but the sides and rear are all the same from 04-08. And obviously Type-S is completely different.

You didn't get a factory built A-SPEC.
You got the A-SPEC bumpers, that's it.
You've been had.

you got a car with the ASPEC wheels, front lip and rear lip. looks like you got the suspension too based on the pictures you posted (looks like the car has a 3/4 -1" drop).

you do not have the ASPEC sides, steering wheel or badge. doubt you have the pads.

you can buy the sides easily from one of our vendors.. if you can find it (good luck) you can buy the steering wheel. the pads can be bought on ebay the last time i checked.

Aspec pkg was a dealer installed pkg offered by Acura and registered with Acura as an official Aspec'd TL (IIRC). back when it was offered ONLY as a pkg (dealers were not allowed to separate the kits until later when people only wanted the wheels or the kip kit or the suspension). they did not come from the factory that way.

OP-you only have pieces of the aspec pkg on your car (the front and rear lips), possibly the suspension (the wheel gap looks like aspec), the wheels...that's about it.

^I remember that , they didn't come from the factory with the A-Spec pkg, it was a dealer installed option. It was pricy too If memory serves.

I would get the side skirts from a vendor here to finish the lip kit off. The steering wheel and the A-Spec badges are few and far between these days. If you do find a badge they usually go for at least $100 plus.

do you recommend anyone?

the badge I'm not worried about same goes for the steering wheel. I'm mostly concerned about is the side skirts. i saw a few on eBay but they are not oem and i really don't know if i get them.

Get OEM from ack or Tim. Steer clear of the fiberglass ebay ones.

It might be too late but if the dealer sold it as an "ASPEC" model I would try to get them to pay for the missing parts. At least the side skirts

^+1

However, it would probably be more of a hassle of trying to get them to do anything about it now, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

+1 .. and if they don't I'd post it in local social media and maybe even the papers. Let others be aware.
