Anyone try those solar powered ventilator fans before?
The past few days have been pretty hot and my black on black gets hot like nothing I've ever experienced before. My previous cars have been white/silver.
I don't like cracking open my windows because bird droppings might enter.
So I was wondering if these things really work. Anyone try these before?

And visors look stupid. Just leave the windows closed it doesnt hurt anything inside the car. Then when you go to get in the car just use the remote window roll down feature that Acura supplied you with for that exact reason. And the car will cool down fairly quickly for ya before you get in.

I remember that a long time ago, a certain mazda 626 had a ventilator fan option. It was powered by solar panels on the roof and the fans were hooked into the car's climate system. I don't think I've ever seen one in real life though...

It won't work at all, its a waste of money. Someone did the calculations a few years ago (2-3) and in it they showed that it simply could not produce enough energy to move the air in the car at all.
The new Prius and Audi A8's have this feature, their systems work a little better. I personally like the 7's system where you can pre-set a time and the car's A/C will work for up to 30 mins to cool down the car. As well it will shut off if the battery runs below 800 CCA's.

your car must not be black =)
I agree, I do not like the look of visors either.
I can roll down the windows with my key, but that isn't going to cool anything down quickly at all. I'm not concerned about heat build-up, but...
The seats are scorching hot, the steering wheel is so hot I can barely touch it, it's torture...
BTW, I'm in Missouri. It's not that hot here usually. 95-100 degrees in the past few days.
The windows are tinted all around.
Today, I started the car 20 minutes before I had to go out. I can't always do that.
I wonder if it's a bad idea to install a remote starter in a manual. My parking brake works fine.

LOL, that's the initial reason I bought window visors. Then I found like nearly dead bees and other bugs in my car. Yeah, that was definitely a failed idea.

Powering the device isn't an issue...
Maybe I could power it from a NiMH battery pack. If it uses so little power that it could be solar powered, it could probably run days on batteries.
Aren't there vents in the trunk or somewhere? I could put a computer fan there or something. There's gotta be a way to do it that doesn't use the windows.

The 7 has some sort of comfort glass in it where they have a tint applied to bounce back heat, however it reduces radar detector signals so there are special areas for stuff like that, maybe we could find a company that sells the tint

What about those sun shades that you place behind the front windows and place some bath towels on the car seat? I know it looks tacky but it's better than sitting on hot seats. It doesn't get that hot here in Washington but I've noticed a big difference.

it's me, Alan Rickman.
Somewhere.. a while ago.. I saw a car alarm that could start/stop the car based on interior/exterior temps; you could go that route and turn your a/c all the way down.. then the car will start itself and cool off
I have to disagree with a comment above about leaving the windows up it won't hurt anything.. helooooo cracked dash. That excessive heat is certainly not good for the electronics or other components of the vehicle.
