Anyone regret not getting Type S?

I'm in the market for a TL. I really want a type s but it looks like I may have to settle for a non type s. Any one go through the same thing and wished you would've gotten a type s?

Here are the common answers:

1. Yes - it's worth it
2. No - it's not worth it

Now try a search...

if you even have a sliver of doubt, get a type-s or it will eat away at you.

The 3G TL is a nice car regardless of being a Type-S but i see them EVERYWHERE. It's nice to be a bit different. I've actually owned both (had an 06 base) and the Type-S gets way more compliments/looks. The Type-S is the whole package, just pick your trans.

i would have regretted not getting a Type-S. I've had a Civic EX and regretted not getting the Si. I've had a Supra N/A and regretted not getting the twin turbo.

Wasn't going to let that happen again and regret it this time around, so I waited until the right one came along before I committed. Suffice to say, I don't feel any regret even though the 6-speed would have been nice.

I could have gotten a type-s. but at the time I found a deal I couldn't pass up on my 04 base so I jumped at it. To me, the type-s is very nice. But it's not 3x nicer than my base so I couldn't justify paying 3x more for one.

Honestly I regret not getting a 6mt more than not getting a type-s.

TL-S was simply out of my price range. Settled with a base 6MT and i'm happy.

It's really your call, if you put want over need or vice-versa. You'll find that there are many base 3rd gen TL owners who are happy .

I kinda prefer the look of the 04-06 base with A-Spec kit. Looks more effortless and clean. But maybe I'm biased.

The Type-S interior is perfect though.

Found a great deal on my 08 Base, w/navi, with low miles and warranty. Love it! Wouldn't have passed it up.

If you want a Type S.. Spend the time and wait till you find one or else you will regret not buying one. I waited and turned down alot just bc there werent stick. I had to have a Type S and it had to be 6 speed manual or nothing.

As others have said if there is any thought that you might want the Type S then just do it. You will likely always be thinking about the Type S if you get a base. Ask me how I know this? Well I first bought a 07 base w/nav. About two months later I got a Type S lol. There is nothing wrong with base cars, but to me I have always been a top of the line kind of guy (hopefully that doesnt come off as snobby).
For me it goes all the way back with my first car when I was 16. I had a Thunderbird SC which was the top of the line supercharged version. Later on I had a SRT8 Grand Cherokee im sure you all know what that is. Most recent one was the Z06 Corvette, which I guess technically isnt the big dog now that the ZR1 is around, but im not trying to take out a mortgage on a car so that doesnt count haha. Now im driving around a 6mt Type S and really like it.

Get the S if thats what you really have your heart set on.

The Type S is surely an incredibly sharp machine, that's for sure. It could've worked into my budget had I allowed it to but mainly I settled for a Base 6MT due to my home location. I was scared that one would stand out and constantly be vandalized, etc. where a Base 6MT blends a little better.....even if it is the brightest, cleanest on the street where it's parked. The rear seat belts are still buckled, plastic on driver's floormat and inventory tags are still on the keys....you can imagine how clean of a life it lives, purchased late August btw. lol

I do keep my deductables at 250/500 so they're affordable at any given time but I'd prefer just to not deal with being victimized. (I'm on the outskirts of a downtown city.)

This is the same reason why I'll always have stock wheels living at this location, I don't need it turning more heads than it already does late at night as ghetto bastards walk the city streets.

I bought an '05 with an auto trans at a good price off lease back in 2008. Drove it until a month ago and have always loved the simplicity of the lines and looks of the car compared to the Type-S. Never cared.

However, I picked up an old Lotus Esprit turbo which made me remember how much I miss driving manual with my daily driver.

That being said, I found a stellar deal on a Type-S manual and went with it only because the price made sense - I had disregarded them and was looking for 04-06 with a manual trans when I stumbled upon the type-s. Usually I find that the Type-S is wayyyy over priced for what you get, but that's my personal opinion.

It's still a cool car but again I really think the price has to be good to truly justify it over a clean base model.

I would still agree with everyone here who has said if you have any inkling that you *may* want a type-s, then get one. Save up if you don't have enough money now - do not rush into a base just to have a TL.

The only time I started really regretting my original purchase of my '05 was when in 2010 I started just seeing 3g base TL's everywhere. 5 to 10 of them every day on my way to work and I was like "wtf, why does everyone have my car now?!" and that irked me.

Good and Bad experience

Recently purchased a CBP 07 Type-s, had a 2006 SSM base. I was thinking of trying to make my base look like a Type-s but that's alot of coin. I love the engine, paddle shifters, dual tip exhausts, brembo's man you guys know the rest. If you can afford it, GET IT !!

Had a couple little problems and still have somethings to work out with them. but the dealer fixed alot of it for free. SO my advise is by from a acura dealer and if you find any problems take it back with in the first few days.

Dont' let my post discourage you its just the car i got :/

I have owned both and I dont realli notice a difference in terms of speed, but then again i drive auto. If you have a base keep it. I think the only reason to get a Type S is if you love Kinetic Blue Pearl bc that color is exclusive to the type S model.

Type-S > Base. All day. Everyday. In every way. Period.

Base UA6 owners all want UA7's. If you're one of these that denies it, I don't and never will believe you.

It's totally up to you. I have an 06 6MT base w/ navi and I love it. A base 6MT puts the same power to the wheels as an auto Type S and costs a ton less
