Anyone opt for the extended warranty?
If you purchased one, please provide some info such as:
-cost
-coverage in mileage and years
-purchased through the Acura dealer or elswehere?
-are there more than one extended warranty offered for the new TL?
-restrictions as far as coverage
If you have any additional comments, please include them as well. Thanks.

~1400 (don't remember the exact figure) 7 yr/100K miles bumper to bumper, acura dealer.
There were multiple options, 5yr/100K was the other that comes to mind. Also to note is deductable, mine is 0.00
also covers wheel damage and tire damage (not covered: damage as a result of curb strike)

If you get an aftermarket warranty
be sure to read the contract CAREFULLY. I bought a warranty from LDS when I got my 2000 TL (used). If the exact part is not listed in the LDS contract, then it is not covered. I got lucky as the dealer I got the car from covered an expensive repair that should have been covered under this warranty. I should have gotten one from Acura.
Anyway, pick the one from Acura that suits your needs and budget. Just one covered repair and you will be thankful for having it.
Good luck.

yeah i am thinking about getting the extended warranty. i drive like 20K a year and my warranty would expire in 2.5 years if i didn't. so the extra grand or so would not hurt that bad for the piece of mind.

I bought the 5yr/100,000 mi. one through the dealership. I paid $450 through vigourous negotiation. I do have a $100 deductable with it however.

When I picked up my car I took a printout from a http://www.curryacuracare.com/# listing a 7yr/100,000 miles warranty for $1125, specifically to minimize any negotiation during the contract signing. When I was offered the 7yr/100,000 warranty for $1,850 I pulled out the printout and said I would just wait and get it from the Internet Acura dealer. I was told that the Internet offer was a scan and really not for an AcuraCare warranty, but that Sunnyvale would make me a “great” deal on an AcuraCare for $1,150.
I was really annoyed, but for $25 I decided to go with the flow and get my car that I had been waiting on for over month. Also, I considered the possibility that there might be something shady about the Internet deal.
After getting the car I did research on the warranty and found out that the guy at Sunnyvale flat out lied to me. I never went back to that dealer, and each time I was contacted for a satisfaction survey I described in detail how displeased that I was lied to.
This is my 4th Acura. I purchased an extended warranty on #2 and #3, and felt I made money on the warranty. There are an awfully lot of gadgets that could break on the TL.

You're throwing your money away IMHO.
I've seen people on here paying more than $1,000 for an extended warrenty. The odds are that you will never see a repair bill over the cost of the warrenty for the time of your ownership. If you do and you can afford to burn $1000 on an warrenty(you're betting the car will break and the bill will be more than the warrenty.) the odds are that you can afford to repair the vehicle out of pocket.
I wouldn't suggest that anyone purchase the extended warrenty when they take delivery. You can always purchase the warrenty before the standard warrenty expires (30 days prior / 1,000 miles prior). This gives you time to think about and feel out if they car has a reputation of having problems.

I just recently purchased a 03 tl-s with 18k and was offered an extended warranty up to 100k for $800, which i thought was a pretty good deal since most repairs are gonna happen after the initial warranty expires

Be VERY careful with extended warranties. Very few of them cover navigation systems, and almost none of them cover voice-command modules. The Acura one probably does, but it's usually pretty expensive for what you get.
Here's the best one I found. It is one of the highest rated extended warranties, and is considered a very safe company (something you really need to check out before you get one of these). If you get it while the car still has less than 12K miles and is less than one year old, you can get a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty, with $0 deductible for about $1300 (or a $50 deductible for $1000). The 10 years start WHEN YOU GET THE WARRANTY, not when the car was first sold, like dealer warranties. (The milage, however, is total odometer miles) Because of this, you COULD get a 6 year / 100K warranty JUST BEFORE the Acura warranty expires, and it'd be the same thing (total of 10 years), but of course the price may change in the next four years. The current price is just over $1000 for the $0 deductible or $750 for a $50 deductible. By the way, this one DOES cover the navigation system, but not the voice-command module.

Not a Blowhole
My experience (and the actuarial tables support this or these warranties would not be so profitable) is that once a car gets past its "infant mortality" stage (as we say in the elctronics biz, where borderline systems fail early in product lifecycle) and make it to 3 years/40K, then the likelihood of failure given proper maintenance up to 100K is relatively small.
Plus, the emissions warranty covers a lot of stuff longer.
