Anyone have A/C problems in 3g TL?????

When I turn on my A/C the car occassionally makes a little rumble or shake. I've driven my friend's Toyota, Ford, BMW, and none of those cars shake as much as the TL. Anyone else have this problem, or am I just trippin??

I don't know much about your issue ... but I think it puts more of a load on the engine with you have the AC running, thus it could make you feel it a little in the car when you turn on the AC. Does the AC tie in with one of the belts at all? But I dont think it should be something extremely noticable. Mine doesn't really do that ... but I did notice it takes a while (prolly like 5-10 min) for the air to get really, really cold.

The AC compressor is run of the main serpentine belt(only belt on the TL, not including timing). When the AC goes on a clutch engages the pully to the comrpessor. You can usually feel a slight thunk. If the car is struggling maby its idling low(dunno if the TL can do that) and the added strain on the engine causes problems until it can adjust itself.

yur trippin.

Though my VW was quieter, using a variable displacement compressor. In this case, the clutch does not cycle on/off.

I've had this problem before but it was a lot worse. When I took it into the dealer they had to fix something to do with the A/C. With this recent problem, I've taken it into the dealership but they said it is normal. I think I'm going to take it in again and ask them if I can test another TL with its A/C. Those bastards at the dealerships are all crooks!!!!! So many bad experiences with them trying to lie and stuff. BASTARDS!!

I've noticed the compressor engages more harshly on my TL than any other car I've driven. Even though they cycle on and off, the first engagement seems to be the worst. Could be because the engine is usually cold and the idle is higher at first.
