When I was getting my new TL the finance manager offered me the extended warranty for $1,100 which would have giving me 6 yrs/75,000 miles and Gap for $295.00 . I declined both. Was this a mistake I made or are these good to have? Did any of you opt for any of the two?

 

I got the same offer. I declined as well.

 

Declined mine too. Good thing I did. I hear that the same coverage offered cheaper to other folks. You can also buy them after the initial sale as long as the standard warrantee is still active.

 

I said no too. My 98RL has had no problems and with my long commute (100mi/day) I would blow through any warranty in about 2 seconds.

 

I bought the extended warranty due to this being a first year version of the car, and all the techie gadgets. For me, it's peace of mind and I'll get a refund later on if the car is as reliable as we all hope, and I don't have to use it!!!

 

Given all the electronic equipment I bought the 5yr/100k extended warranty for $1020, which is only about 3% of the purchase price.....money well spent IMO.

 

I bought the 7/100 with no deductible for $1120.

 

This being a 1st year car and the electronics in the car I got the extended warranty 7yr/100K for 1150/-.

I got the 7/100 and they said there is a 150 you can get later

Is it always 7/100?? I mean its 5/50 so 7/100 makes sense....

Do NOT buy third party warrantees.. even the GOOD ones aren't great.

I had one from Gieco on my last car.. came in handy a bunch of times BUT they gave the dealer a hard time when they had to fix something.. made them do it cheaper or use inferior parts... AND sometiems they qwanteds to senbd a verifyer to make sure the repair is needed.... what a pain.

Thats why I like the dealer one.
