For anybody with WDP..

Can you let me know how different the discoloration is btw the bumper and the body and whether you would purchase WDP again if you had to do it all over again...

Does the discoloration get progressively worse?

Any pictures?

I had my heart set on WDP but after knowing that the color is not consistant throught the whole car, i'm having second thoughts...

Thanks!

I have a WDP, when I first bought the car I didn't even notice that it was a diffrent color... Until a week after I got my car, a truck backed up into my car cracking the front bumper, the company offered to get me a new bumper and have it painted and install... The place that painted it for me told me that they painted the bumper the same color as the car, they told me that the front & back bumper was a diffrent color, that's how I first found out.... I personally dont think that it's that noticeable to other people. But since it's your car, you'll notice it.

I've had my WDP since February, and have not yet noticed a difference in color between the bumper and body. One thing to consider is that I don't park it outside in the sun for any length of time, so this may have something to do with the colors still matching.

with a garage at home and a good coat of wax, you should be in decent shape. IMO, of course.

I would love to tell you all is good, but I can't.... Given lighting types/conditions I have noticed all of the TL colors from bumpers to body do not match well. Some worse than others, with WDP being the worst. I purchased my 04 WDP back in Dec of 03. I had read about the "mismatch" and could see it on my car from day one. It did not effect my purchase. Now a year old, I can't say it's gotten worse but I can say it stands out to "me" much more thus is a perception of getting worse.
On a nice bright sunny day & clean car it's hardly noticeable. If it's cloudy or under florescent lights etc., it stands out like a sore thumb. I haven't asked the dealer to attempt repair, I don't think it's bad enough for the risk. But if I ever get a scrape etc. I will jump at the chance for a better match.

I have never owned a white car before nor would I have thought I would. But, I must say I find the WDP very appealing and would probably opt for the same if purchasing again. Having painted many vehicles in my past, I don't understand why the match is so bad from the factory. They could do much better. I'm sure it would just involve a process change that currently, the cost out-ways the complaints....

As with anything, your personal perception of how bad the mismatch is will dictate your decision.
I can honestly say I have yet to loose my "love" for the WDP due to this issue though.

Merry Christmas

Have a happy 2005TL year!

The silver also has this problem. Had the problem on my '04 and have the problem on my '05, both silver. You can say silver for me is the best color for the TL.

I have a WDP and it looks fine to me. I do see some discoloration only when you look at it in a different angles of the car. It is the Pearl paint doing its job to change in color in different shades and angles. I love the color and would get the same color for my next car!!!!!

Wow I did not know that I thought the problem was only with WDP, in that case I would wait for the RL and see if their wdp did the same thing if it did then I wouldnt buy a Acura at all.

I am on my 2nd WDP TL (the first being a 2k). The bumpers showed the aforementioned discoleration on both but I tend to notice it more on the 04. However, because it does seem to depend on how the light hits it is not enough for me to put up a fuss about. I love the color and its just something I've learned to live with. If you get WDP and it bothers you too much, just have them repaint it early on.

I saw a WDP at the dealership and didnt think the discoloration was that bad. Unfortunately according to the dealer, there are no WDP/quartz/Manual/Navi anywhere in the United States. Can you believe that?
