Any way to get both morrors to tilt on reverse?

Anybody know a way to get both mirrors to tilt down (at the same time) when putting the car in reverse? I know I could "manually" flip the switch from one to the other!

I guess this is an option for the mirrors that I would find handy - although I may be the only one!

Thanks,
Mike

Man - I hate to ask this but I just got a new TL this month and didn't realize this was a feature. I've read pretty all of the manuals that came with the car also (especially the NAV book) and don't recall seeing this. I assume the drivers side mirror is the one that lowers? The next time I back up I'll check it out.

Either one of the mirrors or neither one will do it depending on where you have the mirror adjustment switch set. If in the middle neither will move.

Slide the "adjustment switch" to one side and that mirror will tilt down when in reverse. There's no way to do both at the same time. I only use it when I park next to a curb so I'd never need both at the same time.

Not sure why you would need both to tilt down, unless you were parking between two curbs for some reason. I only use the Passenger side tilt for parking next to a curb. I do not believe there is a way to get both to tilt at the same time.

I have my mirrors adjusted to see my blind spots; therefore, you do not see the side of the car from the normal driving position. I have found that when the mirrors tilt, I can see the side of the car and this is helpful in the heavily columned parking garage that I use at work.

(One of these days I will pay more attention to my spelling in post titles! "morrors"!)

Thanks!

I think this would be handy too...just so you didn't have to switch the adjustment thingy back and forth depending on what side youre parking on...

I think it would be nice to have too. My Navigator does exactly this and I miss it in my TL!

well, lets say you're in a parking lot and you're trying to back into a spot.. with no cars nearby.. and ya wanna make sure you're equally in between the lines.. then having both mirros pointing dowards would be helpful!

Thanks - I always leave the mirror switch centered so I don't accidentally move the mirror setting. Now I know.

I wonder if the mirror switch has separate wires for selecting which side tilts. If so, you could tie them together somehow. If not, though, the adjustment would affect both sides, too, or short something out.

If you are the sole driver of your TL, set the memory 1 for your normal driving and then set the memory 2 with the same seat and etc position except the tilted down both mirrors, with this when you go reverse just press the memory 2 button and you will have both mirrors tilt down and press memory button 1 again if you driving forward. This solve my problem when I want both mirrors tilted down when reversing.

Canadian models do have the pan down feature.

Clever. I'll have to try it and kick my gf off the 2nd memory pre-set, haha!

The seat position thing won't work while the car's in gear- you'd have to move to Park between Reverse and Drive to get back to setting one, which I think would get tedious...

That being said, it would be nice to set them both to tilt down, I must admit...

Cool, I wondered why they stopped tilting. I must of centered that switch and didn't read the manual.

Since my wife is the same height as me, I use the second seat setting to have both mirrors move down. It is nice when backing out of the garage and seeing if I left crap behind the car that I might be running over...
