Is anthracite in short supply?

Dealer makes it sound like it is impossible to get/trade for. I assume that I am getting the runaround based upon other posts. Anybody heard similar?

The dealer near me has had three or four anthracites, at least. Always one on the lot.

Nav or not? Nav makes a big difference. I don't think you're getting the runaround. I just finished my purchase, after 2 weeks of intense search and research with myt salesperon, who would just let me look over her shoulder, at the computer, while we looked for a couple of colors.

It seems that the first major shipment was loaded with Anthracite. It's the hot color for 03-04 (01 CL's were Satin Silver, and 03 CLs Agean Blue, Same goes for the TLs in those years.)

Now Acura is in the process of catching up on production of the other colors. The white, red, green. So Anthracite isn't scheduled to be painted in great quantites again until next month.

What's out there is what's out there. My dealer found about 30 Anthracite (either Ebony or Quartz) and Nav, within a 250 mile radius of us. That were either at their respective dealers or would be by 2nd week of December. About 18 were spoken for, and the rest the dealer just refused to trade. Whether they were in, or coming in.

Add Navi and you chances get really slim. As the plant keeps churning, it'll get easier. But I would not expect them to get really easy to find until late December or Jan.

You watch, Anth, 6MT and Nav will be a beyatch to get ahold of.

Cool

Dealer called me today and told me that my Anthracite/Ebony/6MT without NAV would be built 11/03 - 11/07 and delivered by 11/20. He has been trying to swap builds with dealers on my behalf for 2 weeks now and it finally paid off. If it is that hard to shuffle things around to get one without NAV, I can only imagine how difficult it will be finding one with NAV in 6MT. A good salesman will go to the ends of the Earth to track down what you want if you are persistent enough. I owe my guy a beer (or six).

Thanks for your feedback. I am leaning towards black, but was somewhat intrigued by anthr. I am getting NAVI.

Seems like there are plenty of black models being allocated right now.

Here's a pic that someone posted a while back (sorry, I can't remember who, but it's a fantastic pic). I look at this pic every so often to remind myself why I chose the anthracite...

I don't know how the color on the above TL looks on your monitor, but on mine it has a significant blue, even purple, cast. I've seen Anthracite in several light conditions and it doesn't look like that but is a fairly dark gray and in the right light and viewing angle, you can see a green undertone. If you look at the building behind the car and across the street, you can see that what what should probably be white exterior walls are also blue/purple. Even the TL's wheels look a bit blue. At least they do on my monitor.

Yeah -- according to the original poster, the pic was taken at night. Night photos often have a blueish tint b/c digital cameras screw up the white balance. I actually reduced the amount of blue in this photo in Photoshop -- I just edited my previous message with even more reduction in the blue/purple range. The interesting thing about the anthracite is that it can act like a mirror when in bright sunlight and take on some of the color of its surroundings. I have yet to see it on an overcast day, though...

My TSX is Carbon Grey and there is a similar grey for the Accord which I can't name at the moment. From all I've seen of these colors on these cars, the grey color changes a lot according to the light, the angle, the time of day and the amount of dust. I'm going to visit a dealer this evening for a TL launch party, so I can see the anthracite grey for myself if they have one. If I didn't already have a black MDX and the grey TSX, I'd do it again.
