The original question was: Whay other color would you call Anthracite?

I would call it "Not Quite As Brilliant As Redondo Red Grey"

Who's biased?

Yea agreed, those side guards need to get off of that quick. Looks bad a** from the front and rear but you get to the side and it looks like a Taurus.

Yep they're still there.

About the side guards -- I think they do a good job of keeping the sides clean, so unless I install the underbody kit (taking donations... anybody?) I'll leave them on. Thanks for your responses everyone. Hope everyone who was on the fence about the anthracite color has made up their minds now!

I checked into the service department at Flatirons in Boulder and when asked what color the car was I said "anthracite". The rep wrote down "gray". If you believe that there are only 8 colors, like in the small Crayola box, then it is gray...

Another person needed the car color and when I said "anthracite" he said "what color is it really?"! I said "gray".

erikmoeser, don't let these people influence you, it is anthracite and you must have been looking at an old box of crayolas, because in the latest editions gray is now named anthracite. School books are being revised all across the country as we speak.

Wow this thread has really become an Anthracite love fest. Back to the original question. I would definately call it charcoal. Especially since the word anthracite is a form of coal itself.

moregrip: Funny, I just remembered the color of my first car...anthracite! It was a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle. It was really more like brown than gray. Certainly not the same color as the TL. I also had a "gray" 1969 Porsche 911E. It almost had an olive green cast in some lights. I don't recall what the official name was.

I was all set to buy a black TL----Until I saw the Anthracite all hooked up in the showroom. No regrets...I love the Anthracite...my car is filthy right now and it still looks pretty good.

I was complete opposite. I was all set to buy the Anthracite color. I then saw the NBP in the showroom with the 18's and that made my decision. Never turning back because every car I see on the road is that color or silver!

Time is ticking down and still I am not certain that Anthracite is the color for me. This car hits ground in about 1 week and the dealer is not at all happy with me for my waivering ways (but who focking cares what they think).

I don't want to take delivery and then regret not getting black!!!

I love black cars and have always owned them so am accustomed to the upkeep.

Some may be asking why in the world I ordered Anthra to begin with....well to be honest I didn't. I ordered a NBP/Ebony and then started to hear it from the wife. "Anthracite is sooo much better, sooooo classy, sooooo much easier to take care of etc etc. So taking the bait I advised her that I would go to the dealership one weekend and we would look at them both side by side. Unfortunately for me they had an Anthra all hooked up in the showroom with a full body kit and the OEM 18's...WOW I loved it. Drool soon followed and the black was a distant memory the order was changed. Now since it takes sooooo damn long to get a car I am having second thoughts.

Lore has helped me in the trying time by posting pics of his SWEET ride, but I still welcome insights, comments etc!

I drove 400 miles to see an Abyss Blue. It was worth it !! They had one right next to the anthrasite and the dark blue color with metallic shimmer made that grey car look like an ugly step sister. :toothless

But hey, it's in the eye of the beholder. Get what color makes you look twice.

Nodoze:

If it helps any, I have a NBP on order which was made today (VIN: 42,xxx). I have been waivering and having second thoughts about the gorgious Anthracite and also a 6MT. I could be happy with either one. And, I think I was wise to stay with the 5AT.

Don't lose sleep! They're both beautiful colors. And that's coming from a member of TEAM NIGHTHAWK.
