Another VSA question

I’ve read a lot about the VSA issues but here goes. 05 TL MT with 160k on it. Had my buddy pull an engine code and when I left his place the VSA light was on. (It was previously not on) 5 min later the /!\ light came on. My understanding is the VSA light should turn on and off with the push of the button. The button does nothing now. I tried jumping 4 and 9 despite not having any ABS light then followed the process for the VSA issues. No fix. I’ve seen posts where the /!\ comes on when the car is started then the VSA comes on a few minutes later but my issue is in the opposite order. Anyone experience something similar or can guide me to the issue? Thank you

So I again just watched the video on how to reset the VSA and /!\ lights. Can someone confirm something for me? He says to jump the #9 pin to ground but when he actually does it he jumps the #8 pin to ground. This is the video. Thank you.

the tire light and vsa light is trying to tell you something....
if the lights did not go away after a restart of the car or a pull of the negative terminal of the battery; it means there is something wrong with either the VSA or tires. check for proper tire pressure. check for all ABS and VSA connections are tight and secure in the wheel wells.

what was the engine code that your buddy pulled...
it seems connected, dont you think??? as soon as your buddy pulled it, the vsa lights came on....

Thank you. I’ll start with the neg terminal then check the other items you listed. The code was for a misfire on the number 4 cylinder. The plug was not seated all the way or at all maybe. When I replaced all plugs #4 was super loose. New plugs in and tourqued and check engine light went off. I think maybe the code reader did something but I have no idea. Thank you.

i didnt watch it; because you have the logic backwards...the light is TELLING you something is wrong, look for the culprit...instead of trying to "reset the light"

look for missing or broken TPMS or under or over inflated tires.. missing or broken ABS connectors. burnt out fuses, etc. etc. etc.

I figured out the video. The video was upside down for the portion I was talking about so I confused the number sequence.

The logic tells me that that it’s either a super coincidence that those two lights turned on with in 20 minutes of my buddy reading the check engine code or there is something wrong. I was just looking for clarification on how to reset the lights to see if they did reset and stay off or if they did not, indicating an actual problem.

So you guys don’t think it’s a coincidence that i drove it to his house with a check engine light on and left 20 min later with the other two lights on as well after he checked the engine code?

No lights still. If after you pull an engine code your VSA lights come on. Reset the lights, there’s prob nothing wrong. Code reader prob just triggered something inadvertently.
