Another Tint Thread

Anyone else get the top portion (about 4" strip usually) of the front window (brow??) tinted?

I have always got this done on the past 5 cars that I have had...It makes a huge difference IMO...

anyway, the guy that tinted it didn't do the area just behind the rear view mirror that has that "pattern" and extends about 8" on either side of the rear view mirror.

He said that he had has not been able to get the tint to successfully stick to this surface so he basically trims the tint film so it doesn't cover this area (will take some pics tomorrow)...Same guy/place (Earmark Car Audio in Dallas) tinted my wife's Nissan last August and did the same thing...

Does this make sense to anyone else?

My tint guy didn't do that upper portion of the rear window as well, and he said almost the same thing. He also said that most people didn't mind it (which is kinda of true for me) but if I do want to, he will do a black vinyl strip on that area.

My entire back is tinted...the tint film just barely overlaps where this 'pattern' around the back window starts...

I think we're talking about two different things here. Spacejamz is talking about the front windshield behind the rear view mirror. A bunch of the rest of you are talking about the rear window.

Has anyone else had the top of their (front) windshield tinted?

Yes, the top portion is originally tinted bluish but some people prefer to make it even more darker...personally, i would leave it the way it is becuase of the material on the window behind the rear view mirror...it's very difficult to get the tint to stick onto that material....sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't...i just feel it looks more cleaner without the tint in the FRONT...
