Another new guy....

Finally created an account after lurking on here randomly.
Currently a Prelude 4WS owner but I'm in the midst of selling it and purchasing a freshly listed TL. I've loved these cars since 2004 and I always said if something happened to my Maxima a TL would be the replacement. The Maxima was totaled in 2011 and now I've finally come full circle. I've been patiently waiting for a KBP or CBP 6MT with Ebony/Silver.

In a matter of days I'm purchasing:
2008 KBP Type-S A-Spec
Ebony/Silver interior
6MT
60,000 miles
1 owner

The car popped up on CarMax and had NO photos but just reading the description I knew it was the one I've been waiting for. Its on its way from TX to MD and I'm unbelievably anxious for it to arrive. Carfax was loaded with all Acura services up to and including the 60k service.

Since the trans fluid was just replaced I'm going to run it for a year and next fall / early winter plan on changing to the GM Syncromesh I keep reading about. I'm considering the XLR8 j-pipe as well for a little more low end pep as well but I think for the most part it'll stay stock with tint...maybe clear bra. Not sure on that one.

Very long first post...but glad to finally be joining a huge TL family here. If there is anything out of the ordinary I should look at during test drive let me know. I'm also unsure if I should bother with an extended warranty or not. Appreciate any input!

sweet color and the A-spec already on the car is a plus. I would opt out for the extended warranty, these car pretty reliable at that mileage.

You pretty much hit the jackpot dude. Mind if I ask how much you're paying out the door for it? Although in that condition (based on pics) and being an '08 6MT w/only 60k, I imagine many on here would be happy to fork over close to, or above, KBB dealer retail.

If this is Carmax my guesstimate number would be $24-$25k OTD.

$24-25k is ridiculously high. The car retails around 19k. Nice car though.

Congrats and welcome. That is a nice find Type S.

What year Maxima did you have? I've had a few VQ equipped Nissan's. My favorite being a VQ35 6MT Maxima. I miss the grunt of the VQ

I had the Majestic Blue 20th Anniversary Edition automagic. My wife ran into a guy and blew both bags at only 104k. I sold it to an enthusiast who put everything back together and enjoyed it for a bit and it's for sale now but at the moment I'm not ready to take it back. I bought it with 34k in 2003.

It may be a little high but you can't haggle with those people. They may know how rare the car is too; who knows. I'm willing to pay a little extra to get this rare car and I'll enjoy every minute of it!

That is not a bad price for a car with decent miles, color, a-spec kit, 6SPD and its condition!

21,200 incl. transfer fee to MD?

Congrats!

That's what I hate with CarMax.... You can't haggle, so if you find the car of your dreams, you're stuck with the price, which is usually at least $1k-$2k higher than what the car is worth.

Price is kinda high since most tl-s at that mileage is around $18.5k in value, I am sorry the car is 8 years old already.

It always comes down to supply vs. demand. Supply for Type S is low, manual even lower and while it may not be a "mainstream" vehicle, there still is enthusiast demand.......

I think the supply of MRP and KBP 6MTs is very small from what I've seen.
The car has arrived in MD and I test drove it last night. I'm in love with it already. The front end looks incredible for a 60,018 mile car and the interior and trunk were showroom new. Either Saturday or Monday she's coming home.

Not you, you said "congrats again".

Poster above me said the same thing as his first post, almost as if it's his first time seeing this thread - even after 5 posts, at least that's how i see it

I found it funny, lol
