i installed my footwell leds and i put my add a fuse to the fuse that lights up the time/cd/heat/etc

and i put the positive wires to the positive part of my switch and the negative parts were grounded to a bolt underneith the fuse box..

yet it doesnt work! it'll work on this tiny 9v battery i have but it doesnt work when i attach it to the switch.

the switch lights up when i attach it to the battery too so i'm missing a step.. anyone got any ideas?

i used search btw. i went through a bunch of them and i swear i have everything connected to where they should be.

which slot do you have the add-a-fuse tapped into in the fusebox?

also, what switch are you referring to? you really don't need a switch with footwell LED's (unless you want to turn them on at will)...just take the positive leads from the strip and plug them into the add-a-fuse slot (fuse#32) and the negative leads and ground them securely to whatever bolt you please.

fuse#32 is the ACC fuse and will turn on and off whenever you turn on/off the car. i use this fuse slot for a lot of things. hardwire valentine radar, halos, led strip, dvd player, doms nav2go, etc.

if you don't want the footwell lighting on all the time, you can tap into your parking lights (or in your case, a dedicated switch). you can have them turn on when you have your headlights on (at night).

does your switch have 3 prongs (a switch with a light indicator)? if so, one is positive...one is negative...and one is ground. take the positive wire from your LED to the switch, neg wire to the switch, and then ground the switch with a separate wire. then take the positive wire to the add-a-fuse and ground the other neg wire.

as you can see, there are many ways to achieve this.

I've been pulled over on numerous occasions at night and they've never said anything. A lot of cars nowadays have factory footwell lighting

I hooked mine to turn on only when the two front doors open.

Well;where do you have the wires for the lights attached to? have you tried turning the key while testing these lights? Some fuses only have power to them while you turn key on.

i wired my LED strip directly into the power window fuse. that way u can use the window lock button on your armrest as a switch for the lights.

i found this to be the best way to have an on/off switch without dealing with too much wiring. doesnt matter if headlights are on/doors are open or w/e. another nice feature is that they stay on when you turn the car off (because your windows can still operate) until one of the front doors is opened

I tapped the lights in FUSE #32 in the driver side footwell....this way the lights up on @ Ignition....

When am all set to switch the dash bulbs for LED's in my car I will wire them to he Birghtness switch in the dash....so I can control their light output with the ambient light....
