OK soda,
You win, the specs say Amsoil is better so it must be. You go your way I will go mine. This is a pretty dead "argument/discussion" since both RP and Amsoil are leaps and bounds ahead of Dino oil. That is a fact, not an opinion BTW. I'm out.

SodaBuff is right, however, don't forget that synthetics can buy you time. with the SSO I'd only use it if you plan on doing 15,000 mile drain intervals. Otherwise it's not worth it IMO.

I'm using Amsoil 0-30. Amsoil all I ever use-it is awesome. I don't know why others don't use it? Maybe they're scared to switch from their choice of oil? Just look a the tests that they do with their oil. They put most oils to shame. Just like they say, they can't print the results if it wasn't true.

How much do you pay for yours? Do you get yours by online, mail order or retail store?

I pay about $10 a quart for the 0-30. I got it at a retail store but also from their website. Lately I got it locally so I didn't have to wait for shipping.

Update!!!

I picked up my car yesterday after getting my oil change and the A1 service. My car runs great, seemingly better than before!! Is this really true, is using this oil and filter a true performance boost as well? Or am I just tripping? It sure as hell feels better!

BTW...I am using the Amsoil SS 0W-30 synth oil and the Amsoil EA013 oil filter.

I'M SOLD!!!!!

There was a post to a thread in another forum. They were going to dyno the same car on the same dyno and change oil in between dyno runs.

They were going to use about 6 different oils: RP, Mobil1, Red Line, etc.

They got about 3 or 4 dyno runs done and there were differences. In fact the Royal Purple showed a pretty big improvement in HP and TQ.

Then the site owners/testers got threatened with a law suit if they ran add'l dynos and posted them.

There were some factors that were uncontrolled and could account for some variation in the dyno's besides the oil, but the Royal Purple difference was significant and piqued my interest.

Maybe someone remembers the site/test and re-post the link??

yea I stick to mobil 1...... I tried some other oil that comes from japan....i say no thanks to that same shit as anything else..... RP is the one that I personally would never use for any car I own. the first n last time i put RP in, the valves chattered like hell only after a few hundred miles.... that what made me determine the quality of it. AmSoil Im using now... its just as good as mobil 1 and no valve "chatteration" happening. so id say AS or Mobil 1 is def the way to go

I'm running 5w30 Valvoline dura-blend and it seems to be a little smoother than whatever they use @ the dealer. I need another oil change in about 1k miles so i'll probably switch to RP full synthetic. What filter are you going with Dark? OEM?

Update (from my cell phone)

So I go up there and of course, there was a miscommunication between the people that point, and the people at the end of the finger. So my car is getting done the right way and subwoofer rattle fixed as we speak! Plus, ya boy is in an 08 RDX! Nice!

Oh yeah, Bear my oil changes are free lifetime! You know how I do!!

I'll be back later tonight.

I just received a case of the 0W-30 Amsoil, also.
I know that before Mobil 1 came out with the 5W-20 weight, they said the 0W-20 weight was a direct replacement.
I share your caution. I don't rhink anyone has provided solid proof as to whether weights other than 5W-20 should or could be used safely. I see comments such as "scam" by Acura to meet CAFE, and other hyperbole, but no facts.
That being said, I think I may try it on my next change while it is still cold enough around here to maybe benefit from the 0W.

I used to use Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 and K&N HP-1010 oil filters before I switched over. I have 3 K&N filters brand new if someone wants to buy them. Excellent filters and I would have changed oil at 10K with them! PM me!
