Now, it is possible that they did not list all their ingredients, but the "hydrogenated decene" suggests this is a GIII lube base, and while it is technically a synthetic based on the Syntec ruling, it is not what I and other tribologists would call a synthetic. They may have added PAO and diester, but it doesn't say.

Also note that this is a revised MSDS, suggesting a significant reformulation of the product in 2000, same time as Castrol's getting a a court ruling around letting their hydrocracked oil continue to use the name "synthetic" in spite of Exxon and Shell's contesting. Perhaps just a coincidence - still it would be nice if they came clean on their formula. On the web, I have seen posting from fans and dealers of Amsoil that it has polyol esters, diesters, PAO's, etc. but what you see above it the only bona fide info we have to reference.

What concerns me is that they have tons of info on their site, but no disclosure of the product's components. Mobil 1 tells you exeactly what their product consists of. Hmmmmm.

I am done with the oil thing for a while - same questions, same answers.

Specific questions will be entertained...
